Re: Return to a Cavalier - Satin Red Diplomat.

Yep. I considered having the fifth done too, but theres so many other places this car needs the 100 quid spent, it didn't seem a priority to have a shining wheel in the boot. I plan getting the GTE wheels done when the tyres next need changing. I'll probably throw the Cav spare in then.

Theyre going to Solent Wheel Services Dave. http://www.solentwheels.com/. Dan has had refurbs for his Gte, mk2, and Mk5 wheels. They also did Petes Monaro wheels (in the gallery - you cant miss the Huuuuge APRacing calipers). The full refurb and a new set of boots looks to be coming in cheaper than ...

So, this morning before I finished helping a mate move, I got time to persuade the GTE to donate two of her road wheels and spare.. http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad333/scidaman/Cav/Post%20rebuild/CIMG5716.jpg Cav will be wearing them for a week or so.. http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad333/s...

Re: James' PCs

I got my first PC in the summer of 1998; it was a Pentium II 350MHz with a voodoo 1 'graphics accelerator', 64MB of RAM, a whopping 2GB hard drive with Windows 98 all housed in a fabulously 90's looking beige case. Gosh! That makes me feel really old.. My first PC was a 386 SX20.. Yep, a whole 20MH...

I'll aim to get doen too.. It'll be nice to make Dippy feel like she's got her own meet, as it always seems to be the GTE that gets the summer wekends out..

Little bit of 1-Year-Anniversary tinkering today. Cleaned out rocker cover breather with carb cleaner so that I know I have no blockages at all. Topped up (as I thought) the Washer bottle, and on realising that it was just foam coming up the filler neck, carried on filling.. Another 2 litres later, ...

Re: Is this a 20NE ?

You'd think it would make more sense to fit close-ratio instead, due to the low-down torque of the blocks. Although wide would be better for cruising. I've got one of each.. F16 WR on a C20NE in the Diplomat, and an F16CR on a 20NE the GTE. The close box certainly makes the NE shift nicely, but for...

Cracking work. My electric windows are slow to go down, I dread to think what the cause is... I put it down to age.. The Omega replacement makes that window the fastest on on the car. I's down and stopped before the Cav unit on the other side has managed halfway. I'm in half a mind to do the Driver...

Re: Return to a Cavalier - Satin Red Diplomat.

The new arm is quite rusty and needs a bit of care, that can be stripped and painted at some point, at least it's not bent! I bought brand new genuine arms for Turbo #1. They are still available. They weren't very expensive. Nice and shiny. As you say, as long as you keep the polisher moving there ...

Re: Return to a Cavalier - Satin Red Diplomat.

Thanks Ken. With the stupid prices they seem to go for, and due to the Cav really only being a commute car (I've got the Insignia with a 3 acre boot for load lugging), the air adjustment wasn't really a huge importance for me. You were correct.. I'd already got these.. http://i949.photobucket.com/al...

Gosh! What a surprising lack of clutter behind the headlamp.. Really strange how a few extra pieces (bigger air pipe, wiper motor, extra front fan cowl) can make the dippy's headlamp cavity look somuch fuller. Top Bombing anyway.. Have you tried the Osrams properly yet? I didn;t expect miracles, as ...

Got what time I could over the weekend between the weather. decided to have a look at the O/S Headlamp wiper. It's not worked since I got the car, and on closer inspection, it was pretty bent, maybe it's been tapped at some point. http://i949.photobucket.com/albums/ad333/scidaman/Cav/Post%20rebuild/...

Thanks for the encouragement gents.. Last weekend, I got a tip off that there was a Diplomat in a scrappy in Chichester, so I headed down with a couple of Miggers. As the Dippy came into view, the signs were ominous as the rear windows were down, meaning that the rear window mechanisms had already g...
