Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Took it to its first show yesterday, got a reasonable amount of attention, but did hear a few people muttering that it is to new etc. I can't get the photos off my phone at the moment though.

Re: Cavalier 1.6L
a great looking car, when you first got it, bar the reg (mine was a G) everything is identical to my first cavalier in 1999,that is until it had an argument with an astra on a country lane on the same day as I got sacked from my job and my girlfriend dumped me! one of those days when I should of sta...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Managed to grab a couple of hours on her this afternoon. First thing I did was to give it a major hovering. The car doesn't show any signs of being smooked in but all the footwells had a lot of loose rolling tobacco in them. I fitted the new set of carpet mats as the old set were not pretty at all. ...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Finally managed to get an insurance firm to recognise that this is a classic(footman james), they've given it an agreed value of £1500. Just waiting till the 1st now so I can tax it and have my baby on the road.

Not sure if you're anywhere near Hereford but if you are and you get stuck I've got a 70 tonne press in the workshop. Never fails to get bushes out.

Re: My daily runaround Astra van
Tidy looking van. Always thought the estate/van somehow suited that car better. Same as latest astra, looks better in estate. Yeah it's pretty tidy for an 9 year old van but being used mainly as a car has probably helped. I even used it as my wedding car a few years ago as money was tight, I've a p...

Re: Rust proofing
Digging through the work shop I've just discovered an un used tin of waxoyl and a sprayer so in the short term will be using it.

My daily runaround Astra van
Here's my 2008 Astra van with the rare rear seat conversion. It's got a 6 speed box so can do over 70 mpg on a run. I've had it for just over 5 years. Keeping thinking about changing it but for what? Just a little suprised that it's allready showing a little bit of rust at the bottom of the arches, ...

Volvo c70 convertible
Here's my volvo c70 soft top. It's a one previous owner + demonstrator from new. Full volvo service history and only 90k on the clock. It's got full heated leather, electric everything. The only down side is because of the auto box and bring a very heavy car it only averages about 18mpg, but come a ...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Here's a few shots of the totaly solid boot floor and the genuine looking engine bay. Just noticed that the battery, exhaust system and tyres all brand new. Hopefully on the weekend I'll be able to start on the big clean up. http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac28/garethsgemS/IMG_1239_zpscliam2gu.jp...

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon
Looks an awesome car, would love to have one similar but I think it would bankrupt me in fuel. I've never had a car with a v6 petrol but have had a diesel v6 and the smoothness is something else.

Re: Jury service
If you work for a small business or are self employed you can write to them stating financial hardship etc and they'll let you off. They also let my wife off when she was at home looking after at the time our one year old child.

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Nice find! Looks solid, I'd get some mudguards on to keep the water & gravel away. Hope your radio cleans up enough to reflect the outside of your car  I was thinking that but have had a few cars where they've rusted because of stuff getting trapped between the arch and mudflap so am not t...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
I did want to keep the original tape deck in this cav, but unfortunately its dead. So until I can turn up another one ( can anyone help please?) i'm going to refit my old Kenwood cd player that I actualy hadn't fitted in my last Cavalier back in about 2001 so its still old school. As the wires are a...

Re: Rust proofing
There are very mixed views on this topic. Some say it's great others say it traps moisture in and makes things worse. Others may disagree but I sware by Bilt-hamber products. Dynax S50 is an excellent wax and other products like electrox and hydrate 80 I find extremely useful. In the end the best w...

Rust proofing
Hi, I want to pump my cavalier full of wax, I was wondering if anybody has any tips where I should inject it, what brand is the best etc. is there any easy way into the sills and other box sections without drilling? Many thanks for any advice given.

Re: Newbie saying hello
Agreed - only had Vauxhalls since 1995. But how long this will last I don't know. They don't make Vauxhalls as good or with character like they used to. The only car that is alleged not to rust is the Vectra-C. And the electronics makes anything built after 2004 too much of a hassle to fix. There a...

Re: Newbie saying hello
Enjoying it immensely thankyou, and thankyou all for the warm welcome. Last year I did buy another vauxhall, a 3.0 v6 tdi vectra but the auto box failed straight away so moved it on. My everyday run around is a 2008 Astra van with rear seat conversion that I've had for 5 years, and this has allready ...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
Regarding clutch judder - You can check the cable adjustment to see if it is correct. Measure the distance from the top of the pedal to the steering wheel rim. Measure distance with pedal pressed. Measure distance with pedal released. Deduct the smaller length from the longer one. A spot on setting...

Re: My 46k 2.0 LS Cavalier
That's a pity, there's no slip so will probably live with it for a while till I feel better off. I can't believe how the good this is on fuel for a 2.0 I reckon I was getting at least mid 30's on the 100 odd miles back home. The volvo next to it has the same size engine but struggles to do better th...
