Even the old carb engines on the mk3 had an eml, it was useless, but indicated a fault on the electronic ignition system.

Re: fitting valve stem seals?
I used to be able to pull the head off, strip, decoke, new seals and refit in under 2 hours. Couldn't do it now though.

Re: fitting valve stem seals?
I always used a socket that was the same size as the metal rim. I've seen them not pushed on far enough and riding the valve stem, and pushed too far stretching the seal away from the stem. You won't be able to reuse the bearings mate, you'll destroy them getting them out.

Re: Can non-auto tilt lights be retro fitted with adjusters
The question was can I, not how can I. To expand however, you'll find it easier if you remove the headlamp bulb and the sidelight bulb holder as it allows the motor to be fitted with less chance of breaking.iangsi wrote:That's a very short & sweet answer mr. planetc.planetc wrote:Yes

Re: Bad braking in my dippy
Have you eliminated the possibility that something is getting hot and giving you brake fade. I've seen cases where some bright spark has adjusted out pedal free play in the quest for a firmer pedal, which has led to everything getting tight when warm and fade causing the reduced response.

Re: Font suspension wishbone bush
Can't really see the point in replacing all the bushes If your car is over 20 years old you need to make allowances.Besides, you ruin the character & patina acquired over time. Just because it's old it doesn't have to feel like it. Replacing bushes can be considered general maintenance and can ...
