Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
That's weird, I didn't know those side strips were screwed or bolted in any way into the doors, I thought they were just bonded on with that super strong adhesive. Those holes almost look like someone drilled them by hand to secure the strip to the door. I know for a fact that when I removed a front...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
Ye, I used to crawl under the back, rear of the car being help up by a cheap Toolstation trolley jack... how I never got killed I don't know. The seal went on it eventually but only after it wasn't used for a while.

I used to do it under a hydraulic jack but I know it's not the safest option. Axle stands would be alright though.

I can't tell if they changed their name to that or not, but if it's the same company then I'd get in touch with them if you need any parts.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
They used to be called Cats Direct, don't seem to exist any more, I tried looking. They've never done me wrong though, ordered several parts from them while I had my Cavaliers, always received the correct part and never had a problem, and a decent price. I honestly wouldn't know who to recommend now...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
Going by your photo under the car, It looks like just a normal middle section, I can't see what's on the other side of the axle, if there isn't any U-clamp there, then you have pipe number 2 in the diagram. Which fits straight onto the back box. So I don't see why they're faffing around.

If they know vauxhalls, then I can't believe they can't sort this out for you. Should be a straight forward bob's your uncle simple swap.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
Ah that's why then, because when I replaced the middle section on my old auto, it was one piece, i.e. Item 2 in the diagram. I didn't have the extra "elbow" section. I never knew there were two different types.

Ok, but after the downpipe, the exhaust is the same.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
What? That's nonsense. I don't know why they told you that, I've no idea what they mean. You can see in your photo all three parts, Cat converter, middle pipe with silencer box, and rear silencer box. The rear silencer meeting the centre section over the rear axle is normal, that's just how it's des...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...
That is disappointing, sorry to hear that. The exhaust should just be a bog standard system, same as for the manuals, I don't know what you mean by auto adaption pipe? From the manifold downpipe you have the Cat converter (converts gases into cats strangely), the middle section with silencer box, an...

Re: The C-word
Unfortunately we live in a highly selfish anti social society so the majority simply don't give a toss. Just means that those of us who want to swing by the supermarket to get a jar of coffee and some peanut butter can't get those items because the shelves are empty. Panic buying should be classed a...

I'd say go to the pub but... oh ye that's right the whole place is on lockdown. Don't even know what to do any more lol.
Re: Hereford
I don't blame you, people would probably think you were slightly strange if you stuck half your torso out of the window and pointed the camera in their direction in traffic lol.
Re: Hereford
LOL for a moment I thought you took a photo of whatever that horrible red ugly hatchbox is, I was thinking what is this about. Only then I noticed the mirror, nice shot.

Scraping the old adhesive is usually a pain in the rear as it's like trying to remove dried cement off a wheelbarrow.

dishwasher? I never understood why anyone would put car parts in them, you cannot get better results than from your own two hands, a toothbrush and some good old scrubbing. A dishwasher just sprinkles hot water in a spinning pattern and that's it.

I used to get moaned at for cleaning out breather hoses in the kitchen sink... Anywhere that has a tap and a plughole is a cleaning station for car parts, it's normal lol. How you managed to find door trim strips in decent condition is amazing, they must be as rare as dolphins on the moon these days.
