Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

Eek! Don't worry, there's probably nothing to worry about if the car has sailed through its MOT.

Re: SRi restoration project

On the contrary; I think ilovedmymantas was trying to say that it is impossible to provide advice without knowing what was on the original quote/invoice from the bodyshop (e.g. if the floor has rotted through and there was no mention of any work to the floor in the brief, then obviously the body sho...

Was the link http://www.genuinepartsearch.co.uk by any chance?

Re: SRi restoration project

It would be interesting & informative if you posted the detailed invoice. All the interior shots present signs of accelerated rusting from the inside ( outward facing holes & large plaques ) and the floorpans appear to show signs of water staining. Did you have dampness/condensation problem...

Just done that but it looks like folk are going to have to go to the 3rd party PB website after all

Re: SRi restoration project

Tks for the tweaks, I will make a note for next time. Having said which, I think the original version of my post was less painful to see!   I must admit, I'm at a loss to work out what part of the car half of those pics are showing me, and how they relate to the original brief/work ...

I am going to try to download from PB a selection of the pics we took showing the condition of the shell 2 years (arguably less than that) = 11 K miles after the £5K full restoration [ Image ]]Image ] [ Image ]]Image ] [ Image ]]Image ] [ Image ]]Image ] [ Image ]]Image[/url...

Re: Z20LET components in X20XEV

There are plenty of big power C20LETs running modified Z20LET gaskets, so I'm sure you'll be okay. I know of a Corsa that was running 500bhp no problem on a multi-layer steel Z20LET head gasket. That's what I intend to run my Cavalier's new engine on. EDIT: oh hang on, am I reading this incorrectly?...

Re: Vectra A 2000i 16V

Where do you guys buy all your parts? I am asking because I am thinking of buying new shock absorber and springs OE spec or 'performance' parts? Bilstein B4 dampers are made to OE specification, but if you're looking for parts to enhance the ride of your Cavalier/Vectra A, then you could do a lot w...

Re: humbucker's 2007 Vectra VXR

Nice to see I'm on the prank phone list! The Vectra's looking nice with some nice fettling, non destructive mods. Still got the Aero or has it gone now? Thanks Dave. It's changed quite a bit since those pics were taken (see below). I'll post details of the latest updates shortly. And no, the Aero i...

Re: humbucker's 2007 Vectra VXR

My favourite colour of Vectra-C. I'm sure there is an argument for Arden Blue paint being the most successful cost option in Vauxhall's history! And the sat nav is the same as my own in the Cavalier. And that of my MV6! Surprised you have the Griffin for the start-up screen - Yours should be the VX...

TurboDan had a Z20LET in his Mk3 Cavalier Turbo 4x4, although I have a feeling that his was stock spec internals?

Re: humbucker's 2007 Vectra VXR

It's high time I reported on the fun I've been having with this car since buying it at the back end of last year. What a fantastic machine! I’d been toying with the idea of getting rid of my Saab 95 Aero HOT estate for some time, and while it’s true to say that the 250bhp Swede provided a seemingly ...

Re: humbucker's 1994 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4x4 (Turbo #2)

I opened up the Forge Motorsport actuator I bought to discover that it has the standard yellow spring inside it. According to the Forge website, the strongest spring offered by the company is red, followed by blue, yellow and green. Spring codes and their running pressures are listed as: Green – 10 ...

Yeah not cheap discs ! And the £350 for pads ! I made the brackets myself, you have to alter the legs to get the correct clearance for the calipers and yes redrilled Vxr discs Interesting, cheers for the info. How did you alter the legs to get adequate caliper clearance? Did you need to get busy wi...

Things like park assist, rear view cameras, automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers, super light power steering, automatic braking systems etc. I have no need of any of it, and frankly if you do you shouldn't be driving in my opinion. Sadly, not everybody is a good driver, and the items y...
