Thanks, no plans as yet, might keep it original, but would be nice to add upgrades in the near future. and would love to get some cav slabs on it.

Lovely car there, I can remember when I bought my white 2.0 CD Auto, I'd never driven an automatic before and as I was driving it out of the guys driveway my left foot was instinctively flapping around looking for the clutch pedal!

Anyway I soon got used to it and I was surprised how nice the automatic cavalier was to drive. I dont know if your Cavalier auto has that 'S' button on the top of the gear shifter, but my Cav auto did and it used to really make the car speed up a lot, I loved getting onto the motorway / dual carriageway and pressing the 'S' button and roaring away!

You are so lucky to have one of these for your first car, the Cavalier is a much nicer to drive car than any of those tinny 1.0l hatchbacks that most 1st time drivers buy. If you look after your Cav then you could still be driving it in ten years time.

Thanks, yes mine has the S button too, i'm so pleased to have a cavalier as my first car, didn't fancy a corsa a cav is much more fun. I hope to keep it for as long as possible and it helps that my dad is a mechanic so it will be well looked after.

Apparently the 'S' button stands for Sportsmode, I'm not entirely sure what it does but I can remember it seemed to increase the revs and make the gear changes swifter or something like that. It definetely made the car quicker, but dont have it pressed all the time cos you'll notice that you use more fuel when its pressed. I just used to use it when I wanted an extra burst of speed on the motorways.

Oh yeah a Cavalier, to the untrained eye might look a bit boring, but you'll be able to wipe the floor with any other first time drivers in their gti-look-a-likes, its kind of a wolf in sheeps clothing! Plus you have all the extras like power steering / electric windows / airbags / sunroof etc that you dont usually get in a 1.0l fiesta / punto etc.

If you're dad is a mechanic then you'll be in for some really cheap motoring, you can still find loads of Cavaliers at the scrapyards to get dirt cheap parts from, and even new parts like exhausts are really cheap. I used to go to the scrappers and look for Cavaliers that still had the spare wheel in the boot as that meant I'd be getting a brand new unused tyre (unused in most cases) for only a fiver!

Anyway enjoy your Cav and dont take any stick from anyone - having any car is better than no car! As soon as I get a decent insurance quote I'm going to be looking for a Cavalier to buy, it will be my 6th!
