First ever Vauxhall

Post by Foolish »

Just bought my first ever Vauxhall, a K plate '92 Cav Turbo. Always fancied one, this came up cheap through a friend who had bought it recently but an failure on his M3 left a substantial bill.

Only done 1500miles in 10yrs and been annually MOT'd, now at 112k.

A comprehensive inspection has revealed a good bit of welding required though, rear inner arches, outers and sills. But still my plan to make good, as long as I break even in the end.

I'll be asking for advice no doubt and looking for parts.

Looking forward to getting it sorted, painted and back to oe glory.

Welcome aboard...

Sounds like the usual rot spots.
Not a major issue if you plan to do the welding yourself.

If you plan to get someone else to do it for you, then the price will soon get a bit silly.
Also it depends how far you plan to chase the rust around the chassis.

Hopefully you will find out how contagious these cars can be to own.

I have my man making it good, tbh, the purchase price was low enough to justify spending a bit on it.

Just need to find a white drivers door after some nice person tried to take ownership of the car without my permission. It'll be getting a painted anyway, but im a bit ocd like that.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Ooh , good choice for your first Griffin ! The upkeep can be costly but the satisfaction / enjoyment you'll get from your car will make it all worth it . Good luck matey :)

Good evening Mr Foolish and welcome to cavmk3oc.com! :wave Congrats on your new purchase, get some pics up in the Work In Progress section, and welcome to Cav Turbo ownership too! Look forward to seeing pics of your car and hope you get the door sorted. At least they didn't make off with the car.

Do you still own your Cavalier Turbo? Get some pics up in the 'Projects' section. It would be good to see the ol' bus! :)
