Hi
I'm the proud owner of a 1989 (G reg) MK3 1.4 Cavalier L in champagne silver that has only had two owners (myself included!) since new!
It has only done around 105K miles so there's still has a lot of life left in it. I would like to get it back to looking like new as an ongoing project.
It has a Pierburg carb that looks like it might have been converted from automatic choke to manual. Feels quite sprightly when warmed up!
As part of the MOT last year I had new standard exhaust components put in (I think it was the entire system) because of holes in the old one. Once that was done it sailed through the emissions test
I would like to do a service on the carb at some point but it is out of my comfort zone.
So far all I've done is changed the sunroof to electric opening using the motor/rocker switch from another MK3 cav. I used info from these forums to do it and did a proper job by running a dedicated power cable down the passenger side pillar into the connection box behind the passenger footwell kicker panel and putting a fuse into slot 10.
I've also swapped the interior light for one with map reading lights and put a nice bright LED festoon bulb into it to give great illumination
It did have a delay function on it but the circuit board seemed to have intermittent problems so I took it out and re-wired the lights to work without it.
Nice to join the site at last!
