Hi Allan,

Welcome to our little forum,

Please fire away any questions that you may have regarding the ABS.

If yours is the early version (unlikely as you have a facelift cav), then the ABS control module is next to the passenger seat under a hump in the carpet.

If your's is the later version, then it is the module in the engine bay up between the battery and suspension turret.

This later type can usually be diagnosed using the paper clip test on the appropriate pins in the diagnostic plug.

95% of failures / errors are caused by the front ABS circuits.
1 - rusted / cracked toothed rings on the front CV joints.
2 - dirt build-up between the teeth.
3 - Displaced pick-up due to damaged location clamp.
4 - Damaged cable that has been rubbed by a tyre.

Rear end circuits would be damaged or corroded rear pick-ups, connector pins or dodgy wiring.

I hope that gets you started.

Nice model of car, by the way :thumb

Here is the fault diagnosis blurb.

This is the general listing for the ABS Modules

(Courtesy of Andy Kirwan's Technical site - updated and edited)

To carry out a flash code diagnostic of the ABS system, short pins A and K on the diag plug and then turn on the ignition (engine not running).

If there are any stored fault codes, then the ABS Tell-tale light should flash out a two digit numerical sequence.

Early models which have the old ABS system where the control unit is located at the side of the passenger seat in a lump in the carpet do not usually have this fault code facility.

Check whether the diag plug has a wire at location K.

Hello & Welcome :wave
I have a 1.8 Motorsport / Cesaro which does not have ABS, which I use as my everyday car.
