Hi All

I have finally got my hands on a Mark 3 Cavalier probably 20 years after sold my last one.

Image

She isnt perfect, but a decent runner and 11 months MOT and with 44000 miles

So now the fleet is a 1.8 Vectra B on a N plate (40k miles) and a 1.8 Cav on a K plate

Hello and welcome to the forum! :wave

Congratulations on the latest addition to your fleet. Looks like a lovely example, love the colour and a saloon too.

Lots of motoring fun ahead :D

Hi, can't beat a Saloon - but then I'm biased!
Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum...
Looks like a nice tidy example.

As a hatch owner, I am less biased.
The saloons look very smart, but the hatches make better load luggers.

The Vectra is a hatchback and, yes more useful for the uni runs. But you can’t beat a saloon for looks - it is the proper car shape

btw its not very tidy, but seems to go okay - brief assessment since getting her home

small dent in the boot so that it doesn’t shut
Electric windows not working
Radio needs code (fixed)
windscreen wash not working
Rust on Rear arch
ariel letting in water
Advisory for rust
A few other scabs
Advisory for Fuel lines
No idea on the timing belt
Plenty of small dents on the roof

But what can you expect for £500, 10 months MOT and 30 minutes for home?

I will get my mechanic mate around in the next few days to get an estimate on the welding, fuel lines and timing belt as I think they are the most pressing issues and I will try and jack out the boot later on.

I know mite have to sell my GSI, don’t want to pay £300 road tax & £12.50 a day to drive it.

:wave Hi and welcome to the forum

I had to do a bit of a double take when I seen that pic, looks very much like mine, and you're right saloon is a nice shape all round :thumb

First really easy job you can do yourself - to stop anymore rust on the arches - is clean out all the mud that accumulates in there. Looks like a good base project all being said.

Cheers
