I am Rob Knights and just acquired my 2nd Mk 3 cavalier.
I had one from 1992 to 2005 and loved my 1.6GL.
I have now got a 2.0 CDi with 59k from new.
I am looking for help in a few small niggles.

My friend and fellow admin Envoy CDX lives up near your neck of the woods (Newcastle Upon Tyne).
He reports to be a little rusty due to being Cav-less for several years, but he has probably forgotten more than I will ever know. I am sure he would be able to point you in the right direction.
As for the rest of us.. we will do our best to help if we can.
There is a good range of knowledge on here.
