Hi all, quick hello from Liverpool

Post by pacman06 »

No wheel trim jokes please (I only go for alloys so ner ner)

Joined as I have always had a thing for cav's, ever since the old fella had em when I was a kid (J reg 2.0 GL and a 1.8GLS)

I am 33, married kids blah blah, have a big big gap in car ownership (insurance costs) but in the space of 9 weeks had 2 cars already, a frontera and a celica (jap piece a shit..) and I am on the lookout for a new (old) car, something I will be happy with and hopefully keep a bit longer than a few weeks without getting bored..

Either want another Fronty, an Omega and a Cavalier (or poss vectra B but dont think so) They are all so cheap dunno what to get! (well usually are, dickheads+winter=overpriced 4x4)

REALLY would love a nice 1995 CDX.. would that be the top trim for the most toys? could be easliy tempted to get a 2.5v6 if price was right.. leads me to a question (can I ask Q in this section?)

What will 500-600 quid get me? dont mind a bit of a WIP but would be used everyday, not arsed about MPG as I only do local stuff, school/tesco and the usual.. Checking out autotrader/gumtree/ebay there seems to be a shortage of cavs, unless you wanna pay grands for some shagged J reg cos its got low miles..

(been looking through forums, gotta say Mr Pies GSI is fecking tasty as.. but all you lot seem to have decent examples, but that one does stand out.. bloody lovely..)

Cheers

HI and welcome, well Iwould obviously always recommend a cav over a vectra b, your Q about the cdx - yes that will have all the toys as would a diplomat, but there seems to be more CDX's around...

Anyway I hope you choose a cav as this is a really decent friendly forum, i've been here 6 months and have got so much out of it and spoken to and met alot of good people!! :wave :thumb

Would I be right in thinking (back a few years like) that the last of the cavs had loads of kit on em than even in LS.. I know sometimes outgoing models, they throw loads of toys in them to shift them ect.. Did any MY 94/95 come with remote central locking?? I know you can buy them kits for 20 odd quid like..

hiya and welcome to cavmk3oc.com.

v6 cdx was the flagship 'luxury' model at one point, all the bells and whistles. the top level performance version was the 2.0 turbo 4x4. the diplomat was also a comfortable cruiser but you're along the right lines with the cdx. the LS was poverty spec in comparison.

you mention you like the GSi's and you don't mind a bit of a project, well i think i've found you the perfect motor! this is a GSi that has been fitted with a 3.0 V6 lump from an omega. needs a bit of tidying but you've got the GSi credentials as well as the 200+bhp v6 unit already in place. worth a shot if you don't mind doing a bit of work to get it sorted:

Hi, thanks for the welcome, I have been looking at the cav in your link, seems a nice little project but ad says he wants it shifting before xmas day.. I usually go for classified ad or BIN, sick of numpties overbidding and paying waay over the true worth for the sake of winning.

Welcome and hello :wave

A great site to part of full of information and as you've already said a very nice and tasteful collection of cav's to

Good luck in your quest for finding a new motor hopefully a cav not that I'm bias lol ;) :p :p
It didn't take me to long to find mine but at the same time I guess I was lucky that no one really showed much interest in it! Came with stacks of paper work an so on rear arches were done last year so bonus there also :)

Enjoy your stay fella :thumb
