Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
My wife insists on having a full load of socks before attempting to wash any as she won't wash them with anything else, lol. She also goes over them with a clothes roller to remove the dog hair before putting them in the machine due to the quantity of fur expelled by 3 dogs (currently 4 as we have a Christmas guest). This coupled with the my need to wear more than one pair when the weather is cold means that I have a requirement for a massive quantity of socks. My Christmas top up is always welcomed.

You need some of them super thick socks, think they're called feet heaters or something. Lovely and warm inside my boots.humbucker wrote:Perhaps you should get some thicker socks?!my need to wear more than one pair when the weather is cold
I think more than one pair makes it worse.

Troy has one of these im sure. I think out of the box there not perfect as the liner is plastic and so it likes to get stuck.
Troy will comfirm this as i could be wrong.

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
It's a good welder id go with the 151te if you can afford the extra money.
Out of the box it's perfect and the stock gun will last a good length of time.
You can fit a mod to these to allow for the euro torch, Its only required when you start having wire feed problems cause by the torch, but you can replace the liners no problem.
The only reason I went to a euro torch was the extra length.
The wire feed mechanism are really good I've never had a problem, only with rusty wire which is normal.
If you need any help just reply on here.

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
I can probably stretch To it. But all I have is a normal 13amp supply. Machine mart say it needs a 15amp supply.
Its about £40 dearer for the 151te over the 135te. I can afford that but thats my mask allowance gone then.

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
My 151te has a 13amp plug. It's only ever going to get to that on full power which I doubt you ever use unless doing thick steel

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
My big welder still only has a 13 amp plug and ive never had any problems.
Id look for a second hand welder if i were you. Allot of people buy a welder for 1 job only and then sell them on so most are in good nick.

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
Im a little sceptical to 2nd hand ones I dont know. My mates had endless amounts of trouble with his whereas my brother in law bought the Clarke 145 with gas and its done everything its needed with no problems. I did consider this one but its the cheapest one machine mart sell so bit put off that. Iv got £350 to spend but need a mask too. :

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
I think a trip to troys to experience his welder would be worthwhile and to get some good advice/tips while your there.
Its amazing the difference in each welder, for example troy came to my house to have a play with my welder and he set it to use the same settings as his would and it was just welding a complete mess, all settings etc. are totally different for each welder. Also think about what gas bottles and regulator it uses, the small welders usually come with a tiny regulator to use only with the small bottles that you buy in the likes of Halfords, they really don't last 5 mins.
Small regulator:
A bigger regulator like this one is needed for the bigger pub size bottles:
Also the size of the wire reel it will handle. The small reels again like the Halfords ones aren't great and cost allot, so its worth buying a welder that can take at least the next size up (which I think the one your looking at can).

Re: what did the fat man in red bring you ....
Ok mate thanks, ye im pretty new to it. I started getting quite abit of practise on exhausts and rotten French peices of cack at work but they were big welders. Iv used smaller migs for exhausts and minor patches on cars but iv never really had to set one up as such as my mate ussually messes with it.btcctroy wrote:Have you any experience welding are you new to all this. Iv got a project car to do and would like to be able to at minimum to make engine mounts etc whether thsts just tacked together or completely welded.
Both the 135 an. 151 come with small regulator and small bottle but would be looking to upgrade to bigger bottle and bigger regulator like in the pic. Ive been looking in to it but ill be honest thats all new to me.
Also the wire reels, it says 5kg reel on both descriptions. Again relatively New to me (different weights/sizes)
But ye appreciating the help so far!
