I take it, it didn't go well then.

Do you not have to adjust by changing the shims
....with a brew and my favourite biscuits.

Only got the cover off this afternoon, need some different feelers from work to measure it up.iangsi wrote:I take it, it didn't go well then.
That's correct, will have to measure it, if any need adjustment, take the cams out and see what size shims are under the buckets and buy the right sizes.btcctroy wrote:Do you not have to adjust by changing the shims
Re: Nice job on a Sunday afternoon.
Thats like the 1.7TD Cavs, Dont have to take the cam out tho
Re: Nice job on a Sunday afternoon.
Measured the clearances, all the inlets were too tight, exhausts all ok.
Found a guy not far from here had a load of shims going cheap.
Put the new shims in,remeasured all ok bar one which is a bit snug,so will redo next weekend.
pic of the inlet cam out of the way, note that its a 5 valve head, bit of a Yamaha fad at the time.

Nice!!! Was a bitch to do on my Cinquecento and that only had 8...
But then again... The cam shaft had worn the carriers and had uber movement...
Took me an age to find the right size shims... Had to get a couple machined for me too...
