Good Insurers?

Post by Steve H »

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any good cheap insurers that are out there?
My friend from work had told me about a classic insurer that would insure a cavalier/calibra that's usually cheaper than normal insurers but he has gone on holiday and forgot to give me their details.
Any help?

£1600?? Really? And they said premiums are going down... Well I don't know any details regarding your policy but phone around, try Admiral if you haven't. I've only got a few years on you and pay less than a grand for both my Cavaliers.

A lot of classic insurance providers won't cover anyone below the age of 25, my own included

I'm 22 and with AVIVA.

I was 21 when I last renewed, it was £600 per year, and that's with 3 points on my licence!

I've got 4 years no claims bonus though.

The insurance renewal for Turbo #1 came through over the weekend. £160 fully comp with Mrs Humbucker as a named driver, limited mileage, agreed value, all legal fees etc included. Not too shabby. Turbo #2 is even cheaper (about £120 last time I renewed iirc).

What company are you with? As mine is coming up for renewal in Nov. Normally go with Adrian Flux, but it cost me nearly £700 for all of the above at 30 years old and 8 years ncb!

They're on classic car policies (they don't take any notice of your no claims, so you're free to use that on your daily as you can't earn a no claims discount on a classic policy) with Peter Best, but when Craig (member ABS on here) bought my V6 CDX, they told me that they wouldn't take on any new customers for cars under 25 years old (despite the fact that I'd had the very same car insured with them since 2008!). That said, they're happy to continue honouring existing policies. IIRC a change of underwriter with a different set of rules regarding what qualifies as 'classic' forced their hand.
