RANT!!!

Post by kimi sri »

wtf is the crack with the price nowadays of cavalier parts and posting/ couriers and all that sh@t.

ok 18 mts ago started looking for an sri all online and all other end of the country, so trawled through found one! in london! thought it would be a good idea to finish work stay awake untill 11pm and get the mega bus to london victoria then make my way via tube/train to essex. did that bought the car drove it home. needed an original bodykit so removed the hideous snow plough from the front and the rest of it, and was left with............

Absolute delight 95% rot free! so messing on finding bodykit dealing with couriers and all that then having to find painters, i started cleaning up sills arches inner arches. doing maybe a couple of hours aweek and its still not finished! but thats not the problem! having been given such a gift of good body condition i thought il turn my attention to the motor. buying parts as i go so its affordable.

it has a gm head so thought lets look for a coscast only ones i came across below £500 had snapped the belts at close to the rev limiter and where being sold by idiots who genuinely thought it was acceptable to skim 1/4 inch to remove damage because it was running mint before the belt snapped. other parts like cams flywheels are just really expensive. today on ebay saw air flow meter with an tired looking cone filter do£100
and a coscast rebuilt head with oversize valves ( looks well done) was re-listed as it only done £1000 now has BIN price of £1650. (really)

rant over thanks for listening.... please only comfort and kind remarks

It certainly helps to get these things off your chest. I personally find that to get things off my chest, I load up Gran Turismo 3, and drift a Toyota Supra RZ tuned to 1064bhp around a mountain track, smoke a couple of ciggies, have a beer, and I'm all good.

Car forums are all about everybody sharing their opinions, I can only sympathize with you buddy.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Standard parts can still be purchased relatively cheaply.

More specialised or performance orientated parts always seem to command silly prices.

I have noticed this even more so on German websites.... and don't even think of Dutch ones
Even standard parts can be stupid prices from mainland Europe

With regard to numpties on ebay etc.
They are aware of the apparent rarity or desirability of the performance parts, and realise that they have you by the short and curlys.

All I can suggest is patience and perseverance. Bargains do pop up eventually.

This is no use to you though, if you are working to a timetable.

Appreciate the calming words guys, your right I feel better to get it of my chest. Like the sound of gran tourism, beer and most definitely ciggies bur unfortunately have quit smoking. Maybe that's why I'm getting tense about my car!
Anyway I'll keep my head straight and look for the bargains.
