how's 2009 been for you so far??

Post by cav_2.0_gli »

hey,

hows the start to the new year been for you so far??

my good points:

got a new job, which is kooshty, as im now a white van man lol.
im no longer on the dole
ive got the cav V6 back on the road, and sold the astra
i had a good new years with my mates, which was really good.

bad points:

my cav is on its last legs. its done 150,000miles now, so i shouldnt be suprised.

list of work it currently needs:

1) cambelt, waterpump + tensioners need changing as im not sure when the previous owner last did it.
2) front discs + pads need changing as warning lights on
3) front pass side drive flange needs replacing as one of the wheel nuts has cross threaded the hole, and is loose in it
4) both front suspension strut bearings need replacing as my strut tops do a little dance when i got from lock to lock
5) rear gearbox mount needs replacing as thats nackered and is making the box vibrate like hell
6) T/C thing behind the throttle body needs replacing as the TC keeps failing
7) rocker cover gaskets are leaking like sieves for the 4th time, so they need replacing
8) its accelerating like its in a slingshot atm aswell, so i need to work out what the hell is causing that.

its annoying me abit tbh, as im starting to loose interest in my cav. ive spent so much money on it so far, in excess of £2000, and it needs atleast a further £600 inc parts + labour to get it sorted, but then theres other bits i wanted to get done on it, like tinted windows, drivers seat repaired, front end respray and so on, so il have to put that on hold for the time being i think.

but other than my cav slowly dying on me, everythings been good so far.

how's everyone elses new year so far been?
my driveway's like a 1986 vauxhall forecourt lol (apart from my mk3 cav's!

labour? drive it to manchester im sure me you and squig could get all those jobs knocked off in an afternoon. I know i could get most of it done on my own.
If the covers are leaking get the vec ones, i still think the plastic covers were a cost cutting measure and they warp over time.

Ive not done much in 2009 for it to be either good or bad, ive mugged myself into doing 3 services this week. (me. my dad and anita) so gotta go vauxhall and cough up a load of cash on parts.

ive just bought some vectra metal ones, they are in the post, as is my greenstuff front pads, and drilled + grooved front discs. the drive flange (got a complete pass side leg instead), strut bearings and gearbox mount is sat in my garage. vectra rocker cover gaskets, and the TC thing is also sat in my garage, so ive got all the bits.

il speak to Squig soon, once the other bits have arrived, and i may take you up on that offer. only problem we may have is getting that bolt that wont come off out, hence i was gona have to remove the whole leg instead, as i cant get the pass side front wheel off atm.

So far this year I have been either eating, sleeping or working on my runaround frantically trying to get it back on the road to get to work in.

Thankfully it's all paid off, and I'm kinda looking forward to going to work in the morning (that will last all of half an hour!). Been a bit of a crap start if I'm honest but things should pick up a bit now I hope.

Plenty of jobs to do but not enough money. The Turbo is looking less likely to be working this year due to it still not working and needing various jobs. The good news is the Colorado is still going fine so that is one less worry because of money being tight .

mine has got off to a slow start really. loads to do and nothing getting done. desperately trying to get the red cav stripped and gone so i can go and collect my vx4/90 before someone else goes and buys it, the blue sri really needs a proper clean (been a bit of a workhorse lately) also the central locking needs swopping over to the red 1's then i can put the door cards back on and start using the deadlocks again.

on top of all that im trying to get myself ready to start studing to prepare for my taxi drivers tests and start earning some decent wages!

still, better than bieng bored.
cars to date
Nova 1.0, omega 2.0 16v manual, carlton diplomat, cavailer GL 2.0i, omega 2.0 16v auto, nova 1.2.
Current car, blue cavalier 2.0 sri 8v, Red cav sri 8v now stripped+gone vx4/90 arrived!

complete cav sri interior up for grabs
