Re: Snow :(
Not yet, but they keep threatening that some will be along sometimes next week. Hope not.

Re: Snow :(
I've took some snaps of my 2 cavaliers covered in about 8-10 inches of snow. I had foot long iceicles hanging from the roof. Some of the over hanging snow has takin my guttering clean off. So thats a job to do when its melted.
I've been off work a few days with a bad back But I'm not looking forward driving the 56miles to work tomorrow. I'll have to dig the van today ready. My dad said he had'nt seen snow like this in suderland since the 70's!

It's a crock of shit realisitically. The earth has been through an ice age before (and I don't think dinosaurs had cars, do you?VauxhallGirl wrote:so much for Global Warming....

Sure, we might have accellerated it a bit, but its still a natural occurance.
Anyhoooo, just shaking off a snow induced headache after a fair amount hit me on the head and traveled down my back, the shock sending me onto my arse

Re: Snow :(
The snow way up here in Lerwick Shetland is only about an inch or two. Hardly anything really, but back home in the north east of Scotland it quite deep. Ive been sent a pic of the Cav up to the center of its wheels in snow.

Front wheel span up on ice and clipped the kerb. Nothing major, just means my spare is dead as well now.steven77 wrote:what happend you ok ?Envoy CDX wrote:Cav is now short a wheel

New tyre tomorrow

And get yourself to work, I'll be using the Astra or public transport tomorrow.

Steel wheel as I'd been running about on the spare due to fundage issues. I have an alloy in the shed, that I'll hopefully get a tyre chucked on tomorrow and I'll be mobile again.

Re: Snow :(
Last year, I had new tyres put on the front wheels, the same day I skidded on black ice into a high kerb. Due to the car's ground clearance, I didn't damage the bumper, but the steel wheel took the impact. Tyre is fine, so I need a new steel wheel. I have about 5 wheels spare, but no machine to do the job. I'll get it changed over sometime. At least I have a few spare wheels should I need them in an emergency.

Most back street garages will do it for a tenner or a pack of stella.Cavalier342 wrote:Last year, I had new tyres put on the front wheels, the same day I skidded on black ice into a high kerb. Re: Snow :(
Yeah, but you can get 12 or 16 cans of stella for a tenner, so buy stella and give them 4 cans..Cavalier342 wrote:I like stella, so tenner will have to do

Re: Snow :(
Still no snow here... which is just as well, as I live "165 yards" up a hill
But it is damned freezing
-1.5 degrees at 1:30 pm this afternoon
-4.5 degrees at 8:30 pm this evening
-5 degrees by 9:15 pm
They are threatening -10 degrees overnight, and then snow tomorrow !!
It was nice last year for a few days, but after nearly writing the wifes Vectra-c off on a lamp post, I decided to take leave for a few days.
As a point of interest, the narrower your tyres, the less you will skate around on the snow... wife has 215/55/16's and the car slid around for fun.
My Cav is on 175/70/14's, which is better... but by far the best last year was a friend's punto on 145/wide 13" penny-rounders...
It didn't skid once and got everywhere it was asked to go.
It is for this reason, that I won't be fitting my 195/60/15 fan blades.. not until next spring

Thats just goading me into pulling the 14" steels from under smokey, and getting some clean rubber (winter tyres) fitted to them...Robsey wrote:Still no snow here... which is just as well, as I live "165 yards" up a hill

However, I stuck the spare on the cav tonight and it was in better condition that my last spare which deflated itself this afternoon.

Well, decided to see exactly what an autobox could do in the snow, and armed with a spade in the boot went looking for a carpark.Robsey wrote:Pray tell...Envoy CDX wrote:

I am happy with my handbrake though..

Re: Snow :(
You really need a rear wheel drive for hand-brake turns in the snow...
Now that IS fun
My first car was a 1980 rwd toyota... How and when I learnt to drive on slippery surfaces.. hand brake turns and sliding manouvres on my local supermarket car-park.
I take it then you didn't put it into the snow-flake mode... that would be a little boring.. unless you were testing the box rather than just having fun.
