slow news day?
"Bought some pasties from a 99p Store? Fed one to your young child? (Really?) Surprised to discover they weren't fresh? (Really, really?) Well even still, it's probably not worth telling the local newspaper. They'll have far bigger stories on the go. It's not like they're going to make it the front page lead.

Re: slow news day?
I both love and hate local papers, who are the morons that pick out what is 'the most important' story in that particular week?
baring in mind this is weekly, oh the joy.. a Lidl!

The letters in tho are always good for a laugh/wind me up!
A particular favourite was from a guy "deeply concerned" that if we build too many wind turbines the wind resistance will slow down the earths rotation and we'll all be doomed....

Re: slow news day?
its true tho, as long as it's kept properly food is fine, well until it goes off. usually best before dates are well in advance of 'sell by' dates which are usually well in advance of when a foodstuff actually expires. people waste so much, 'oh this label said it was best before yesterday'. yes, BEST BEFORE, that means it is best before that date, not that its now inedible. even sell by dates are to cover the stores from a legal perspective. i'll happily eat food that is past it's sell by date if i judge it to be ok. frozen food is an extreme example; buy some fresh food stick it in the freezer. it will be past its sell by date by the time you get it out and you'd eat it without worry so why worry about it just cos it's been in the fridge? you just use common sense; you know if food is off or not.
Re: slow news day?
Yeah people are really picky these days about food being off!
Best before dates are just a guide its not a reason to throw out and waste lots of food.
Mind due I know at work we can't use out of date food so quite a lot gets wasted!

I did a chefs apprenticeship when I left school, and I throw food away when it's off, not when the date runs out.Alexia wrote:Yeah people are really picky these days about food being off!
