Back to work today... :(

Post by Martin_TD »

I go back to work today at 4:30 after two weeks off and I feel sick at the thought of going. The only thing that keeps me going is the money and once I've paid my license off 18 months away, I'll be outta there, there are some pretty horrible people in there which don't make it any better.

Rant over.

I'd love to get a truck licence tbh, I also want to get my B+E which lets me tow a trailer it's a bit silly I'm allowed to drive a bendy bus with max passengers but I'm not allowed to tow a trailer with my car? :? money making scheme?

I got a bit of "good" news today when I went into work I'm being put on constant back shifts so no more early starts for me... thank god lol.

Yep, not long had to do mine, why the hell do you need good english(writing) and maths to drive a truck?

Wont your license work upto a weight restriction if you drive a bus?

12 tonne bus with 40 passengers = 16 tonne which I think is covered by a class 2
Cavalier 1.2 tonne at most with a 500kg trailer should be covered.

I have a 7.5 tonne license, and drive a spec truck which weights 6.2 tonne. can lift 1 tonne on the boom. wether I lift a transit van or a mini, im only ever lifting the weight of the front end which is a tonne max, so GVW is 7.2 tonne, but the train weight of the full vehicle will exceed 7.5 tonne.

Ideally I need a class 1, as its articulated but as the GVW doesnt exceed 7.5 tonne, I dont. Give the DVLA or your local driving test centre a ring, they may suprise you.

if you dont have a 7.5 tonne license(i.e january 1997 onwards)your allowed to tow a small unbraked trailor as long as the combined mass dosnt exceed 3.5tonne so a cav with a 1ton trailor should be ok,i tow a 2.6tonne trailor behind a transit van for work that you cant do with out pre 1997 liscense
hope that helps
