It shared the hall with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - that won the day for me when they started it up and it echoed round the hall . Lorries are quieter

That's very cool. Never realised they were taken from another car and a Rover 200 no less!

Interesting they say that Jaguar originally wanted Cavalier rear lights but they weren't available.
I would have thought MK3 Cavalier rear lights were in abundance in 1992 when the XJ220 came out.

I wonder if it was the late MK2 smoked units that they wanted. I can see those fitting in well.

If I ever see one all I'll be thinking is 'that doesn't look right' now that I know. I can't unsee the photo unfortunately

it was very obviously designed for the cav lights so now the rover ones just look out of place.
This would be a good mod for XJ220 owners if they were anyway attached to the 'real world' of motoring

There's a 3 door version on an E plate driving round by us, in a fetching shade of light blue and heavy rust and every panel with a few dents and scrapes. The person who drives looks at least 90.

I am a Mk1 and Mk2 fan really.
I just love the simplicity of the Pinto engine bay.
I loved the front end of the RS1600, 1800, 2000.

I sort of lost interest when the Mk3's were launched. And the CVH... yuk!!
The only car that I could not get comfy in.

Saw a blast from the past yesterday - Wednesday. Whilst out on visits in south Manchester (Chorlton Cum Hardy).
I drove past a big wide Citroen XM estate.
Wow....
There is something about the big early Citroens. Original DS, CX, XM, Xantia
None of these modern plastic fag-packets that fill the roads these days.

And my favourite 1995 (N reg) Xantia hatch is back around the corner.

One of my favourite old Citroen's is the BX. I bought a diesel estate when I was 20. Totally worn out but only cost me £400. I always remember looking through the service book and seeing the last few entries tipexed out, proof that it had definitely been clocked, and so ugly that it almost looked good. Was brilliant to load as you could drop the suspension to the floor and in floods you could raise it up to full height and Wade through. Today a very rare car, but in 2000 they were still everywhere. Would love to have another one day.

Have to say I'm a big fan of dashcams, it helped in my insurance claim and gives me a record of the odd things that I sometimes come across

On my way home from visiting my elderly parents, the first time in over six months, yay! , I spotted this in the distance and thought what's that?
Luckily traffic was light so i could get close up to find out.

I recognised that car profile a mile away.
I used to see an Insight quite regularly a few years ago.

Funky in a Ninja Turtle sort-of way.


I would like to say very unique for the time, but I suppose it is no uglier and not too dis-similar to the Ford "Cadbury's Cream Egg' Ka mk1.
By the way - The Ka had awesome brakes. Like having truck brakes on a roller-skate.
A slight fart and the Ka screached to an abrupt stop.

About the only thing I know about the Honda insight is that it was the car that de-throned the Vauxhall Calibra as the worlds most aerodynamic production car.

The dashcam was a gift, just a bit surprised by the insurance people's stance on it, I was expecting them to say I could have an extra discount.

This is quite local to me, I often see it driving through my village. I have a bit of a secret rivalry with it.

Sierra "Jelly Mould" Sapphire... one of the better looking incarnations of the model. Looks like the "Azure" edition.
Love that colour... but then the Robsey family do like blue cars.

I passed a peugeot 306 on the road the other day, it's surprising how much it stood out as different to new cars for what seemed fairly bland when they were more comon.

I saw this in the distance at my local supermarket and at first thought it was a ford probe, I haven't seen one in a while.



Turns out it's a chevrolet camaro


I was behind this transporter for a while last week in Edinburgh before i noticed it's age, It was very clean looking


Further up the road, a subtle little 96 fiat coupe...

There's a lot of nice looking mid 90's cars around just now, mine's just not one of them at the moment

On the plus side we're going to see the touring cars at knockhill this weekend

Hmm this had me head scratching.

I thought a Dutton Kit car but could not find any pictures with the correct front wheel arch fairings.

I had almost totally discounted the Morgan series..
Again, mainly due to the front arch shape. The Morgan has a fully-enclosed arch fairing.

But I know there is one of these knocking about near me too.

UPDATE -
The nearest model that I can find to resemble the car in the image is a late model MG TF. Circa 1949 to 55.
So I am guessing it is a replica of that...
or a very good 70 year old car.

Was walking to the shop recently and heard this 1950's I think, Pontiac convertible rumble by. Heavy traffic meant I caught up to it and overtook it on foot. Gave me a chance to take a picture.
