That brings back childhood memories :D.
The first family 'car' i remember was a pale blue A35 van my dad bought.

First thing he did was go to the scrappies and get the rear bench seats from the car version, no seatbelts of course but still a great improvement over the cushions my sister and i had to sit on, sideways so we could hold onto something lol.
I seem to remember not much legroom as a gangly kid, that may be a false memory though, it was a long time ago :scratch .

That van is partly the reason i got interested in fixing things.
I used to love going to scrapyards with my dad and uncle. What could be more fun as a six-year-old than exploring a new yard at the weekend and finding the odd screwdriver and left behind loose change, even if it was wet and we had to trudge ankle deep through a 50/50 mix of mud and oil? Happy days!

She will be 4 tomorrow - fully grown now. :grommit

Image

She would have been a baby when you saw her last time.
VBOA in 2021... 14 or so months ago.

This is her at VauxFest 2019... barely out of nappies.

Image

Still much better behaved than the missus.
(Shhhhsh - Don't tell her I said that. :no I would be in trouble). :fight

That's quite a contrast between the photos, it looks like two different dogs!
She looks so much more mature and dignified now😊.

Starting with a fam's car I've been putting off posting....
2010 1.6 nissan cube, 'personalised'. Not old but they are rare

Image

Today's shopping trip....
1975 beetle

I haven't seen a 2cv for many years then a lovely example turns up in an asda car park!
Image

Now the modern.

This ford st appears to have a bronze tinted windscreen, or has it?
Image

When i look down on my car the sunroof appears bronze, possibly due to nicotine staining. My car's 27 years old, what are these guys smoking

Last but by no means least, this 2008 audi.
Image

When I came back to the car the driver and his son were in it. Obvious question - how do you manage the speedbumps?
He was happy to show me the silent hydraulic suspension in action, independent front and rear :love
It's hard to believe what is registered as a 1.8l looks like this.
It was almost silent on tick over, that changed when he left, and the noisiest dump-valve ever kicked in

Not much to add - my dashcam's playing up
I saw another 2cv (no pic) that was pretty tatty, the only two I've seen in at least ten years.

Another battlebus, 92 volvo
Image

95 toyota
Image

99 merc, looking surprisingly good for a petrol engine with over 180 thousand miles on the clock :o

After a long drive from Haydock Park with nothing of interest for thirty-odd miles....
I ended up behind this 1/2 mile from my home.

Image

From behind, it looked like a dressed-down Scimitar.
Maybe it was the Morris Marina type tail lights..

But nope, it was a Jensen Intercepter. 6.275 litres...

Apologies for the crap photo - my dash cam is poo!!
I am parked right behind it at some traffic lights.

It's funny you should say that.
I thought exactly the same. So much that i checked all my postimages galleries then the topic followed by a hard drive search before posting, and i couldn't find it.
I wonder if there's a tv ad somewhere i've picked up on subliminally :scratch

Honestly, who thought "I want to spend a fortune on a new Ferrari that's the colour of the road with double yellow stripes" :scratch

I thought I'd seen it all last year with the snowman biker but this year was definitely better.

I was nearly home and sitting at lights when the lead car, a 4x4, at the right of the crossroads caught my eye. Hard to miss really, around the roof there were loads of flashing coloured lights, that's when I did a second take.
Standing in a sleigh on top of a trailer was Santa, waving and blasting out christmas songs!

This has to be my worst pic ever, partly a combination of running out of scoosher water and people sitting on the brakes in the dark :x
Image

I guess it was an unofficial charity event of some sort, Health & safety would have a fit and that made me smile, I miss when people could do their own risk assessment lol.

I am sure the local Rotary Clubs still do Santa's rounds, with two artificial reindeer and a sleigh being pulled around on a trailer by the pre-requisite 4x4.

They tend to drive around at walking (curb crawling) pace.

They have done it round my local area for as long as I can remember.

My previous boss and his wife used to take turns playing Santa every year whilst fellow members went from house to house collecting.

I never noticed whether there was a seat belt fitted to the seat / chassis.

It's been a while but my dashcam's playing up, new one ordered :D .

I don't know what it is but I do know it's owner couldn't have been happy. This was 12.30pm...

Image

Five hours later, still there....

Image

I feel sorry for him, I'd be fretting as if my dog had gone missing

Not the best images but a vehicle named 'the rat'

The VW beetle on top of the rusty toolbox is wired to the brake lights

Is that "the rat", or "the pat" (patina galore on that transporter)

I would have thought than almost everyone with an older car would have some form of breakdown cover - just for times like this.
It is a shame - but on the up-side.
It hadn't been driven into, or stolen yet.
So that is a bonus.

Driving down to ashdown forest at the weekend in the Camper and the A22 was closed so diverted through Gostone only to see a very mouldy Vauxhall Carlton.

I couldnt stop but managed to snaffle the streetview version which is from 2015, its not had a good intervening 8 years!

This very car has just popped up on ebay, a long way from Hereford though.
