Anyone else remember these brake testers? Not sure what figure the tester would be looking for but it goes full scale on the CD!
Picked it up at boot sale for £3, couldn't not!

What a bargain! You'd easily make ten times that putting it in an automotive auction.

Hard to believe i drove 250 miles to a caravan break in yorkshire and didn't see anything!

Midweek, different days, all i got was a 96 volvo 800
Image

and a 97 940 in Bridlington.
Image
Image

Both looked in good condition, better than mine at the moment :(

While I was there i saw an old classic, 30's i think. It was past me before i could get my phone out so I didn't get a pic.

I've been looking at the protected files on my second memory card, the one that covers the holiday jaunts and the journey home.

Sometimes I save a clip but more often than not the camera decides to save it for me whenever it doesn't like bump in the road. Luckily they're only three minute clips :)

I didn't see this at the time (I know, you can barely see it now :p ) I was probably either concentrating on the roadworks or ponies in a field on the left :D

Escort, I think

97 merc

I hope there wasn't anything seriously wrong, this 98 rover was just after the roadworks
Image

and from the same layby, a 97 micra
Image

I think that's it for now so I'll finish with my favourite road sign :)

Yep - Escort mk1 in picture one. 8-)

I keep fogetting that some of your pictures require a bit of lateral viewing.
I saw the Honda CRV and thought, "what has he been on?" :scratch
Only at the last minute did I see the orange Escort on the far right.

And you cannot beat a Wetwang.
Probably not the best term to use - oops!!

I still try to use the 'rule of thirds' for photo's, a throwback to my 35mm days.
Quite often cars on the opposite side of the road look fuzzy or distorted when cropped tight, so I'll leave the pic less zoomed to give a sense of perspective.

The escort clip was the last one to be found, snapshotted, cropped, uploaded to postimg, then copied & pasted. I miss direct uploads :(
I was a bit tired by then so here's a closer crop
Image

The last pic was to show my mate that wetwang existed. He's seen the tv ad (dacia duster i think) and I told him I'd driven through it but he wasn't convinced :wall , until now!

That does worry me that his whole body is facing to the side.

My wife used to be able to read price tags in shop windows whilst driving a double-decker bus (circa 1999 / 2000) -
I could never work out how she could possibly be safe carrying 70-odd passengers whilst looking in shop windows to the side. :scratch

Still - it is nice to see some proper cars with character. :)

That does not surprise me.
I have tried to report changes to the DVLA in the past.

Restored an MZ ETZ with shiny Carribic Blue (metallic green) paint.
The V5 still said black when I tried to update it.

Image

Image

And when I fitted the C20NE engine to the Cavalier, the DVLA still sent back the V5C with C18NZ on it.

I always tell the insurance it is a 1998cc engine, just to ensure that they are aware and that they cannot use that to avoid paying out, should the worst happen.

As for the MZ, a friend of the wife wrote it off years ago.
About a year after I finished the resto.

Me too. As the driver I'd be insisting on him sitting properly, especially with no seatbelt requirement and him blocking the mirror.

It doesn't look like an enjoyable ride, not with that down-turned face staring at you when get on lol.

Sadly he fared too well.
The guy was an arse and scrapped the bike without saying anything until I asked for it back.
Maybe the down-turned face was because the MZ knew it's fate

He reported that the frame was bent like a banana, which is amazing as the old MZ's were built like tanks.
The 125cc weighed 19 stones!!

But it was really nice and comfy to ride.
Kick start was a pain though, with many scratched ankles in the process.

Never had the heart to ride a motorcycle since.
I haven't even looked at the wife's CB500 SW in ten years.

As for the sideways facing juvenile... I hadn't looked properly - I thought he was the driver. Didn't quite see the little head low-down in front of him.

Yesterday saw a few nice examples, sadly though the car camera was only saving 10 minutes of footage before over-writing the next ten minutes.

Any way - saw a Reliant Kitten (4 wheeler version of the Robin).
And at my local garage was an Escort Mk4 in for a service and tune up.
And in the corner the resident MGB GT.

I had taken the Vectra in for a service... The old oil filter has been weeping for months - leaving black oil droplets all over south and east Manchester.
All done now.

Nice little alfa today.

I hired one in the 90's. Nothing exceptional but I didn't like that there was no mechanism to stop you hitting reverse from any gear :o

Ah yes, Alpha Romeo.
Rich man's Fiat.

Often ugly, usually quirky looking cars.
Wife's first car at the age of 17 was a 1981 series 3 Sud.
Being her, naturally it had to be a 1.5 Ti Cloverleaf...
She never had little pootlers like me.

Not much to show for this week. The camera probably saw more but I didn't....

VW camper
Image

- is campervan the old name for a day-van, i.e. with no toilet?

A little oddity....
Image

....The problem with cropping is now it looks like it's self-driving.

I was stuck at traffic lights, I wonder if the giant crow caught it

You're right of course, it doesn't much.
I edit with photos and cropping also zooms, slightly blurring the image. Often the cleanest shot is edge of screen.
The biggest culprits are a six-element wide angle lens and reflection from the other car and my windscreen. I haven't found the circular polariser for my dashcam yet and i'm loathe to buy another one. It would magically turn up the day the new one arrived

Almost in order....

73 triumph
Image

Good old workhorse, 98 land rover
Image

I know I've seen this pug before, must be local, though not this time.
What are the chances of three random 90's cars (mine included) within feet of each other nowadays?

Image

I have to admit I love my dashcam, wouldn't go anywhere without it.
There are details i miss when focussing on driving. Reviewing the footage on the pc brings up things I didn't notice.

For example, a humble 1l 99 nissan micra....... or is it a sleeper?

Image

External oil-cooler and something on the bonnet :scratch

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Something a bit different, never seen this before :|
Image

Yes, the lorry is overtaking but he was waved past by the coachman :D

....and finally

Squirrels look cute when they're standing on their hind legs.
When they're at a slower pace they really do just move like rats with fluffy tails :o

Red squirrels are cuter and helped avoid tooth decay. Bring back Tufty!

Nice images! My dashcam died last year and I replaced it with a Garmin something or other but your right they see things you wouldn't normally. We live near a cemetery and quite often see a horse drawn hearse.

Did they do what looks like a Triumph Stag in 1993?

I am sure they were made between 70 and 78.
Although I may have the wrong model.

Other than the TR7, Triumph didn't really venture much into the 80s on the car front...
Obviously they still knock out loads of motorcycles.
