Spotted in aberdeen yesterday. Shockingly, not a pile of rust

That is in amazing condition for a metro.

You would expect a huge corrosion split down the front wings about eight inches behind the headlamps.

Here's a couple of oldies I seen out in Portugal, I missed snapping most of them. Stil lots of Renault 4s as well, old mercs, seen a good few old Toyotas, Nissans and quite a few old Nissan/Datsun pick ups and the like going about.

i also seen a nice prefacelift saloon and a hatch but never got snaps.

I believe the best two foreign destinations for old cars are Malta and Cuba.
But I have never been to either.

Lucky enough to have been to both - Cuba is amazing for older vehicles but they are not always what they seem, the Minor has a beam front axle!! A lot of the larger 50's American stuff will have been converted to use Russian diesel engines!
There are also some very nice original vehicles.

It looks like rumours of the death of shopping centres may be true.

On a day out to Widnes market, I saw this Lincoln hearse.



All part of a character day, with various super heroes and large inflatables dotted about.

I did see a fella dressed a up as a 7ft "Bumblebee" transformer Volkswagen Beetle character, but chose not to photograph it - it wasn't a real car

But I did see a Lightning McQueen lookalike.

Not that I am biased, but here is a camper parked on the Marina Road in Barmouth.



1915cc DG Volkswagen Type 2, T3.
Registered as white.

The DG's use the Pierburg 2e3 carburretor, the same as the early 1.8 carbed Cavalier mk3.

That Lincoln hearse reminds me of six feet under Cadillac hearse. Only that one was older and bright green.

Saw this in the car park at Knole yesterday:

Seen this the other day in Asda. Wee polo bread van, it like it had wider wheels on it but were VW wheels.



While I was trawling through my pics I seen this one I took earlier in the Year, this is pic of a transit wheel, seen it while in getting my MOT, van still had a ticket as well, could this be a new way of securing your wheels in a sort of quick release function?

There is a fella near me who is a bit of a chancer.
He must be a couple of years either side of 70 years old.

He likes messing with cars, but he is far from good at it.
And he often dumps his projects behind my house.

We all know a Morris Minor when we see it.



I am not sure what's under the bonnet, I would expect a 1420cc Metro engine, being this guy.

He also has a badly restored Reliant Robin (later shape).
Black body with a gothic purple interior, that he calls Frankenstein.
It is supposedly fitted with an R1 motorcycle engine.
But I know that he couldn't sort a simple item like the throttle cable. It has probably snapped again, which explains why he hasn't dumped it behind my house for a good few months.

I love the idea of having a van version of the moggy, particularly as parts are so easy to find. I've often thought it be a lot of fun to have one with the full running gear out of an mgc fitted.

Ah.. you mean the Traveller, or Woody.
All very nice if you are a fan of wooden car bodies, including the squeaky wooden rear doors.

I worked on one about 20 years ago.
Failed horn push and a few other bits.

A total of about five fuses in the engine bay.
Radiator fan,
Wipers,
Blower motor,
Interior lights and dash.
Exterior lights.

Super easy to work on.
Probably only 6 volt electrics back then.

No, for me it would have to be a proper van or at a push a pick up. You may of noticed that ive got a soft spot for light commercials. At lot of people my age seem to want to go out and buy themselves a red sports car, for me my mid life crisis vehicle is a red bedford van, lol.

It doesn't look tooo bad to me -i've seen worse though i'd prefer one colour, probably the light blue. Customisation can be marmite, each to their own.

Though taxed until next January it doesn't appear to have been submitted for an mot since 2012, I wonder what it's like under the skin.

He is still working on it.
Most of the car is primer grey, and there is no back bumper.

I have warned him countless times that the primer will not protect the steel of the car body from the rain water.

Looks like it still needs attention to the front wing, close to the headlamp and bonnet.
He replaced the offside sill last year.
