Quit smoking with me?

Post by planetc »

Jumping in first so I have a head start on the new years resolution people I have started the process of beating my nicotine addiction. After some 28 years or so I shall miss my friend but hopefully I will eventually feel better for it. Anyone wishing to join me, I welcome you to post comments and suggestions and we can encourage each other to keep the dream alive.

I have now been approximately 26 hours without a cigarette, and am using a patch to assist. The patch is not giving me anything like the dose of nicotine my body is used to, so the withdrawal is starting to kick in quite heavily this morning. This has been a long time coming, and I am absolutely determined I will get through it. I :x

Hey Paul, good luck buddy..

One of my close mates has just given up but bought a electronic steam cigarette thing, he said it helps him massively but then he never puts it down and he was smoking around 100 fags plus a day before he started on the electronic one.

May be worth a look if you find patches etc do not work for you.
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

I know how bad alcohol withdrawal syndrome is, don't know what it's like for tobacco users, but good luck nonetheless. Bit late for Stoptober though

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

I've tried a gamuchi, never really got on with anything that is meant to be a direct replacement as it doesn't break the habit. I stopped counting how many I smoked when I started to roll my own a couple of years ago but I know it was a lot, probably 60+ going by the paper consumption.

I had a summer where I got into riding a couple of years ago, I might take it up again. The main reason I am stopping is because I feel like crap so much of the time and I am pretty sure it's the quantity that I smoke that is causing it.

Good luck with it.mrs cav6 gave up 3 years ago after smoking for 25 years.what finally did it her was visiting a body exhibition in Birmingham where they had a set of lungs from a smoker and non smoker opened up.she pretty much gave up on the spot.she used patches for 2 weeks, then forgot one day and it wasnt until the afternoon she remembered.same happened a couple of days later and she decided she could manage without them.

Ill be trying to give up a bit later in the year next year - gonna lose some weight first, I think doing both at the same time is a bit beyond my willpower limit.

To be honest I must be lucky as I have never really been addicted to anything (except a nasty drug habbit some years ago)

Always found I can stop and start when I like and when I stopped smoking I just went cold turkey and didnt smoke again, know thats hard work but found it the easiest way. The only thing I have now is every time I have a drink when im out I always crave a cigarette.

Quit cigs once and started on cigars....Bad idea, 2 weeks and stairs were an issue!!

I have smoked but only a handfull of times and it did sod all for me.

I did once try using public transport for a week and that pissed me off royally so i can get some of how hard it is to kick a habit.

Just reached my 72 hour milestone. I think my body is beginning to detox, coughing up crap and my mouth tastes bloody awful! Still feeling strong though, I went out and did some shopping yesterday and didn't even feel tempted to buy tobacco.
