Post by RNROBBO01 »

Just fitted a redtop to my LS cav fired up first time but sounded abit rough, then calmed down after abit. Took it out for a run within in about 5mins of been out i realised some thing was seriouly wrong but before i could pull over......crash bang smash

Snaped Con rod
Cracked crankshaft
Crackshaft counter weight cracked
Baffle plate ripped apart
2inch hole in front
Hole in back i could put my hand through

The oil remaining in the sump doesn't look good. Did you service the engine before fitting, Did you drop the sump before hand?
I always have a good look inside any engine I fit.

It'll be tons of filings.

I'd say a rebuild job if you had a spare block and spare pistons.
But the amount of work involved, you may as well buy another red top and rebuild that.
Run it in and then go from there.
