It's officail, I am insane.
Allow me introduce to you, Cav number 4:
It's a 1990 CDi in champagne with Rome velour interior automatic with a mere 37,956 miles on the clock, and most importantly, it has fully functional headlamp washers!
My Father and me saw it and money just sort of fell out of our wallets.
It's got all the perks of the Pre-facelift CD including the amazing manual levelling system which still works, adjustable steering column and of course, headlamp washers.
It's pervious owner was a lovely man called Gordon Jackson who has given up driving at the grand old age of 96! He has owned 5 Cavaliers in the past including MK1s and MK2s who always upgraded to higher mode and ended up with this, the then top of the range CD (1990 was before the Diplomat before anyone questions) which was on display at the showroom at Renny's Vauxhall in Tonbridge Wells. It's been meticulously well looked after, always being dried after getting wet and has been stored in a garage until just a few months ago. Everything works, apart from the electric aerial unfortunately, I checked all the usual rust spots and couldn't find anything apart from a mildly rusty nearside rear wheel arch.
Did I mention the headlamp washers...
Anyway, I'm having problems finding space for her, so it's going to stay with Gordon for a little while until we can make space for her. I am hoping to take this and my LS to the Beaulieu meet up but we'll see.

Re: It's officail, I am insane.
Yes, if you didn't notice, it does have headlamp washers and they do indeed work.
They are simply the coolest thing in the entire world!
It's probably the best condition Cav I've seen (in person at least). It has the original Pirelli P600 tyre in the boot, the interior is faultless, the carpets are bone dry and it has that new car smell, even the leather steering wheel fells new and not smooth like they get after a certain amount of miles.
That's why we just snapped it up as soon as we saw it practically. My Dad and I lost the chance to by a pre-facelift SRi in similar condition once and I didn't want that to happen again.

Mate that's a really nice find!!
I'll catch up with you one day, once I get my V6 sorted out, I may consider buying another one as a project next year.

You are going to need a house with a bigger drive soon!
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

One Cavalier gives me enough grief let alone 4 of them, nice find though..

Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Soon? I need one now!
The only one that has given me any grief recently is the LS. It's been the workshop for almost two weeks and today I'm finally getting her back; I'm just about to leave now in-fact. I'll explain later in my WIP...Mikebmth wrote:Yep, officially mad....

Re: It's officail, I am insane.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. We were very lucky to find it and be the first in with an offer as it was only advertised in the local newspaper. Apparently Gordon has had a lot of phone calls about it.
Hopefully if I can find some space in time I'll be taking it up to Beaulieu.

Re: It's officail, I am insane.
I haven't actually got her home yet, but should be moving her tomorrow/later today.
Her are some more snaps I got last week:
Original carpet mats:
Rubber mats with the older square shape griffin, I didn't even know these existed:
What on earth is this actually for?
And yes, they do work:
Everything just feels so nice and unused, I can't wait to get her home.
The only thing it needs as far as I can tell is a new electric window switch and an electric aerial.

Re: It's officail, I am insane.
I've always wondered about that rear suspension, is it airbag or something? I know you have to inflate it if you're carrying a heavy load and then deflate it when it's light. But what does it actually consist of?
Looks nice on the inside though. I think that extra panel next to the passenger seat is a cover for an ECU, because I have one on the V6, and when I turn the ignition on I can hear a click from that side. Could be airbag ECU or something....

Abs ecu under that cover. Rear shocks have an airbag essentially yes.

I love it too. Has its own on/off button rather than being incorporated into the volume control.
planetc wrote:Abs ecu under that cover.
I thought it was some sort of silly foot rest or something. I suppose they moved the abs ecu elsewhere later on then.
Interesting to know though, thanks for that
