Troys goodbye

Post by btcctroy »

Just saying my goodbyes here now and the reason
Banter and wit seems to be a problem!
Just find this forum very boring as it seems some take the comic remarks the wrong way.
Its becoming a site of little children saying "daddy he's picking on me"
So what
Regards
Troy

This is my last post.
I'm always going to shows all over the country, so where ever you see my btcc rep cav (its the only replica in the country with a side exit exhaust) I won't be far away!
Also in back window there's an advertisement to my good friends autopaint supplies business. Motor colours, oldham. Has a website and does aerosols mixed to your car code. Just mention my name if you need anything

Too true.......

I did much the same when I put my car up for sale a fortnight or so back...Jack Daniels was the cause of that one, as others are always saying stop fecking crying about people taking the piss and get on with it.
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Thats the problem with the internet, in person as some of you know i can be pretty sarcastic, but on the internet i tend to avoid it as tone isn't transmitted so some people get offended if its not meant in the way it was perceived.

Half the problem is people either not getting the joke (or understanding the joke in the first place) due to tone or missunderstanding

Or they are just too bleeding touchy in the first place.

Either way the people on the forum are the forum, without banter and a bit fun it may as well be a haynes manual.

Things get read the wrong way, but I have noticed some people are very very blunt. And will happily go on someones thread and slate the car or new mod. And I cant see how that can be taken anyway but offensively, Nobody likes being told what they like is shit. But I'm not talking about you Troy.

Just dont take stuff to heart mate and stay. As I like looking at progress on your car and getting tips etc. plus banter is good

There is, of course, always going to be forum moderation if a post is deemed offensive, e.g. racist comments or abusive/threatening language, but I like to think we operate a fairly simple common sense approach. People saying they do or don't like your project is neither here nor there, it's a matter of opinion and as long as you like it who really cares? Obviously, I'm not referencing any particular topic, but people need to be aware that tone of voice is often lost on t'internet (as Gaz has already pointed out) and think before they react to questionable posts. Again, it's just common sense at the end of the day, but it's very few and far between that we edit or remove posts tbh, so I can't really see what the fuss is all about.

:wave Bye Troy, sorry to see you go but will look out for you at shows. As others have said, online it is hard to understand the inflection and tone of what it being typed or those typing it realise what they are typing could be construde in a different light...

Hmmm - I wish you well buddy.

Can't help thinking that it ain't all down to a few dodgey posts.
But anything outside of the forum is none of my business.

At least you can be safe in the knowledge that your btcc rep thread has inspired many others.

Personally I would recommend taking a break rather than a full on departure from the forum.
