Re: what are the chances
Only the police cars came without sunroof. As for a roofskin, it's just metal, I know I've seen a couple of projects where people "smoothed" the sunroofs out, giving it a non-sunroof look.

Re: what are the chances
I didn't know this until recently but a sunroof was an optional extra on the envoy so most don't have one.
It was also an optional extra on the pre-facelift base for the first couple of years of production, by 1992 though it was made standard equipment.
You try and find a pre-facelift base today though; I've never seen one.
Your best bet is to try and find an envoy, still a fair few about.

Agreed, Envoy is the one to find.

Re: what are the chances
What about a Vectra A roof skin?
Most German spec cars had just about everything as an option.
When I lived in Germany, hardly any Calibras had sunroofs, but they were standard in UK, maybe the same for the Cavs.

Re: what are the chances
I'm in favour of 'non sunroof' cav's too....
Envoy could be the easiest catch, but don't forget to hunt down ex police too.
I wonder what happened to this one?

Re: what are the chances
Just on this 'sunroof' note..
I was on the M1 today, and I kinda realised that sun roofs are not at all popular on cars less than 10 years old, in fact hardly any new cars had them at all
When and why did sun roofs become so un cool ???

Air conditioning made them supposedly obsolete.

It makes a big difference to air flow through the vents as the air has somewhere to escape so more air flows through.
Re: what are the chances
i dont see that going from personal experience thier rubbish plus with out a/c the air coming from vents is hot lol

Re: what are the chances
It's not the only reason of course. That's just what I find most useful about them though. Saves having to put the fan on.
I suppose the theory is heat rises, so put a hole in the roof and heat will go though it.

Re: what are the chances
air con and a sunroof in my 96 Mondeo Ghia too, the AC was an optional extra though.
Big fan of sunroofs, I like the light they let into the cabin for a start and the fresh air without the noise of having a window open.

Re: what are the chances
Sunroofs in my opinion are great for 3 reasons:
1) Much easier to de-mist the cabin, whack the heater on and let it all escape through the top, and if it's raining, it won't get in if it's tilted up.
2) If you're not driving, you can stand on the seat and enjoy the wind.. Much safer than in a convertible, in which case you will fly out of it....
3) If you get caught in a flood, (let's be honest, it happens), a sun roof is sometimes your only viable escape. If you can't get out, a car is your grave in a flood....
