one simple question

Post by joe cavalier sri »

Hi I'm going to ask one question just straight honest answers please no sarcastic answers please.
Which engine do you prefer and why c20xe or c20let ?
And why you prefer the engine of your choice ?
This is just on the engine not which car they are in just the engine cheers Joe :thumb

I don't think your going to get many replies as not many people are lucky enough to have driven a car with either engine in let alone both, be it a cav or what ever.

I had cavs with both engines in, it all depends what your after, fuel economy, reliability, power, I prefer the let , if you keep your fuelling right and don't let it run lean, it should run fine, and a engine on standard internals will run 250 to 300bhp no probs, I suppose the xe is more reliable and has better fuel ecomomy, but like I said it all depends on what you want, plus you can get a xe for around 300, a standard let will cost you at least a grand, Ads

Here's an answer some people like cakes, others prefer pies. Some people like both.
Very few here have had a redtop let alone an let.

It depends on what you want from the engine.

Speed,
Power,
Reliability,
Price in standard configuration.
Ability to modify (practically and safely).
Economy
Ease of installation.

Make out a list in order of importance.
Then compare the two taking into account of the inevitable compramises.

I agree with what the others have said.

I have had Five C20LET, Two Z20LET, Three C20XE and Two X20XEV engines all in differant cars.

Smoothest is Z20let, and dead easy to tune to get good power.

Nicest noise i'd say is the C20LET

Rough and ready out of the box would be a C20XE

X20XEV not bad but not worth converting too.

Driven both, repaired both. No doubt the LET is an awesome engine, but it can be a pain in the arse to diagnose quickly and reliably when something goes wrong, and has more to go wrong. Personally, as much as I love it given the choice between the two I'd choose the xe.
"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"
