Looks very clean. Silly mileage as well. The good ones are definitely going up in value. Can't say I blame them.

According to 'how may left' there are just 8 pre-facelift Diplomats left. 6 of witch are automatics.

If it's in as good condition as it looks then I'd say it was worth the price for the rarity value.

I'm surprised to see that there are only 14 facelift manuals left on the road too!

Thanks for sharing.

I can think of a thousand computer eco-boxes that you can buy for less than that amount, none of which have any history, character, and depreciate about as high as Niagra Falls. ;)

Yes, but if you're talking about the value of a Mk3 Cavalier, then four grand for an eight-valve PFL automatic hatch is seriously strong money.

I understand, but they will go up and up in value as time goes. So still a good investment in my mind. Given the condition and the mileage of the vehicle especially.

A bloke came up to me as I was leaving work during the summer and asked how much I wanted for the SRi. That knocked me sideways so I said: Nothing less than what I'd spent on restoration + mods which must come to what one would pay for a 3-year old mid range car today. I nearly regretted saying that cos if he'd said "yes" I would have refused his offer. Luckily he saw my point. Makes you wonder what would have happened if I'd been Ads.

Can anyone tell me how many 1990/91 8-valve non-cat 20 SEH SRi's there are still around, regardless of mileage?

According to 'how may left' there are 83 left on the road with 239 on SORN. That's in total from 1988 to 1992.

There are 20 on the road from 1990 and 24 from 1991.

That must be getting somewhere near vintage (classic?)status. Or is this age rather than numbers related and if so how do they manage qualifying if one model spans a decade or so? I was told last week that 25 year old cars no longer had to pay road tax - true or false? Tks

Well it's all subjective really. Personally I would call them modern classics.

False. It has to have been manufactured before 1st January 1975 to qualify as road tax exempt.

It used to be 25 years originally before 1997 but since then it has gone up to 30 years and now 40 years.
