How do I tell R or S chassis?

Hi
How do I know from my VIN if I have R or S chassis? My chassis number is W0L000087S77500281. Is it the 87S bit that tells it's an S chassis?

You have answered your own question
The letter signifies the model year, S being '95. Also worthy of note that the new model year started to come through from the factory in about October or November of the previous year, so for example, a' 95MY s chassis car might have been registered in late '94.

I'd no idea if the S in the chassis number meant it was actually an S type chassis but thanks for confirming.

The 8 is for Cavalier.
The number after the 8 is the body shape
Then the next letter is the date of manufacture.
Aug 88 to July 89 - Ident code K
Aug 89 to July 90 - Ident code L
Aug 90 to July 91 - Ident code M
Aug 91 to July 92 - Ident code N
Aug 92 to July 93 - Ident code P
Aug 93 to July 94 - Ident code R
Aug 94 to July 95 - Ident code S
But as Paul says... model year normally starts at the start of October...
2nd October seems to ring a bell.

The only "type R" and "type S" cars that I know are Honda Civics.
