Day off!

Post by James McGrath »

Just been sent home from work as Bodiam Castle is shut today due to a lack of electricity and the high wind speed. :D

It's like being back at school and having a snow day or something.

Just need to find something to do now, hmmmm...

You work in a castle? lol.

Been a bit blowy here overnight, I got probably the best part of 2 hours sleep during the night due to wind noise and the sail outside the house consisting of a 70 ft conifer tree, so as you can imagine I'm in half a mood to get on the scotch..... But I won't...

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Fair enough  Can't say I'm surprised at the lack of electricity, I didn't think castles had that luxury in the medieval times. :D

Beats working in a supermarket I guess..

It can get a bit hectic and it's sometimes too much during the school holidays.
It's not consistent either, I work 6 days a week during the summer and only 2 during the winter.
But I love it really, it's a very interesting place and the people I work with are great.

The electricity was installed in the 1930's I believe. It's for lighting going up the towers as it's too dark without it.
There was no power anywhere else either. So the tearoom, shop and visitor reception couldn't open without power to the tills.
