As well as my mk3 Cavalier I also have a mk4 Astra Estate which is my 'daily' and for this I use a website

To identify GM part numbers which has proved very useful but on selecting the Vectra A and entering my VIN number it doesn't seem to recognise it?
Does this VIN look right?

WOL0000MV124860

I have tried replacing the O with a 0 and visa versa but it's still not recognised. It is 2 characters shorter than my Astra

It does not look right to me.
What vehicle is this for.
Definitely not a Cavalier / Vectra-a number.

W0L - World manufacturer code for GM group.
0000 and 2 digits for body shape
A letter for model year
Next digit for factory
Last 5 digits = chassis number.

So my cavalier is -
W0L000089R7#####.
W0L - GM group
000089 - 5 door hatch
R - 1994
7 - Luton plant
Then chassis number

EPC doesn't recognise your VIN either.

It is W zero L zero zero zero zero.....

If you pm me your reg number, it will find most cars after 1998 ish.
It only finds a few Cavaliers.

It is the part where you have MV that is wrong.

Thanks Robsey, your right, it's not right! It's also got an 87 in it! Makes a world of difference.

I have been using it for a few years.
It is far from perfect, as you cannot specify some engines or trim levels.

But is very useful as a guide.

EPC3 or 4 is much better as it does identify body type, engine type, trim level and other useful factors.

It is a life saver although I can understand now why vx parts guy always said there are two part numbers for that, what one is it

It should be dealer only software, but it got leaked onto various websites and ebay shops a few years ago.

As you see - similar, but not as cluttered as ecat.

A few years ago, I found myself in the situation where the local dealer would only order parts if you gave them the part numbers.
Thankfully that dealer in Stockport is closed.
This is why you will find that I use Lookers in Ellesmere Port instead. Dave and John are very helpful and will still happily look up parts for me - shame they are 40 miles from me.
