Value of a restored Cavalier.

Value of a restored Cavalier.
I am due to return my trusty Cav to the roads in the next few weeks. As soon as the MOT is done and dusted to be more precise.
My Cav is already insured at "market value", which I believe is between 300 and 500 for a facelift '94 LSi in average condition.
But - after spending well over 6k on a major (not full) restoration, I am wondering where I should pitch my new value to the insurance company.
I know that 6k is more a minted GSi or a good Turbo price.
So I will never realise that price.
A boggo standard hatch is about the lowest valued / least sought after Cavalier you could think of.
So what value should I insure a solid restored Cavalier LSi Hatchback with lowered suspension (standard 40mm lowering), Diplomat 15" fanblades, SRi interior, sub 100,00 miles engine and fitted with a reasonably reliable Meta / Toad immobiliser alarm.?
550 quid perhaps ? - lol
Any thoughts?

Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
Market value for a well restored Cav like yours is allot higher than £550.
Aim high but just try to insure it for as much as you can.
I don't think £2000 would be unreasonable.

Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
Possibly -
But it depends upon how an insurer would view it.
A resale value?
A like for like replacement value?
A book value for a mint example?
Or scrap value?
All very subjective.
Cav enthusiasts are not as common or as apparently devoted as say their Ford or VeeDub counterparts.

Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
What you need is agreed (realistic) value insurance, perhaps the insurance company could advise?
Could be worth having a look at current address.
My renewal is due in a few months and will raise this with them before expiration.
My Morris was valued by my club and its value was taken as the agreed value figure.

Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
I have an agreed value of 4k on my cav turbo, but the way prices are going up, I will be upping this to 6 or 7 k when renewal is due in march.
Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
An agreed value policy is the best way to go as they won't just write it off for the smallest scratch, an independent inspection may a good idea show the pics of all the work.
Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
I will contact my insurers on Monday to discuss it with them.
Thanks for the input chaps.
I must admit, I was a bit unsure how to go about it before..
But now I have a reasonable idea and a plan.

Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
As above - agreed value policy is the way forwards with this.
Re: Value of a restored Cavalier.
Well I spoke to my insurers.
Spoke to a nice girl who advised that I need do nothing with the policy as long as the car isn't worth more than 75k.
Not much chance of that on an LSi Hatch.
So - no change / increase in premiums.
I advised that the value of the car had risen from £350 (very optomistic scrap value) to approx £2000.
I also advised that £6.5k has been spent on the car resto - even though I know that they would never pay out that much.
(So they have it recorded for future reference).
So - hopefully all is good... at least until something does happen, or it is time for renewal at the start of November.

Late to the party again...
Rob, you need to go and see someone about getting an agreed valuation on this. Last thing you want is the worst happening and they only pay out xyz.
