New job

I've just got the call to say that I am now a conservation assistant for the National Trust at Bateman's.
It's a job I've been after since I first started working for the Trust 4 years ago.

This is going to be an enormous step up for me, going from a lowly part-time 'Visitor services assistant'.
For a start it's permanent full time, 37.5 hours a week and because of that I'll be paid a lot more.
It's far more skilled in nature and I'll be doing what I love doing.

This has been hanging over me for the last 6 months since I first found out that Bateman's was looking for a new conservator and it's a massive relief.
However, I am a bit nervous about it. It's a job with a lot of responsibility and it's the first time I'll be working 9 to 5.

Hopefully this won't affect my forum duties but if I'm not online as much as I have been in the past then you know why.

Congratulations on the "upgrade" / new job James. :cheers

Regarding forum stuff, play it by ear.

I suppose it all depends upon how much of your job becomes homework.
If you can turn off the job as soon as you leave the "premises", then you should be able to fit things in nicely.

As you can see - I still manage to stick my nose in on a regular basis despite having a full time job and slotting in being a full time carer for the wife and our pooches.

I am sure that Dave, myself and Dan will continue to share the workload whilst you make your necessary adjustments.

At this time, just wallow in the joy of getting your dream job.
As long as you enjoy it, it will not seem like work at all.

Thanks guys.

It's going to take a while to adjust, but I don't think it will affect car/forum related things too much.
If anything the extra money will help a lot especially with what I've got planned for the Diplomat this year. :cool

Congrats on new job James. Sure you'll take up those new responsibilities quite easily if it is what you really like doing.
