Oil level sensor

Post by Veron700010 »

Does anyone know where I can buy an oil level sensor for my mk3 cav? I can't find anything for sale on line anywhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone help with this folks? I really am struggling to find a new part. Alternatively can the existing sensor be repaired? I doubt it but any suggestions are welcome!

Apologies for late reply.

Assuming you have the old shape sensor (square shaped casting) as used on the 20XE and C20LET, then I have to agree that I can not find any new ones for sale anywhere.

Just to confirm part number - 90464009.

If it is the other style of sender with a round casting, then these are indeed still available.
Listed for X20XEV and C25XE.

Part numbers are -
90452192 at £55.50 from AutoVaux / GPS.
and
90504306 at £66.82 from AutoVaux / GPS.

I hope that helps someone.

For added info, the inner clamp / strengthening plate is the same for all sensors, so it "may" be possible to fit the round sensor in place of the square one. But I cannot guarantee it.

I recently fitted a new genuine round type sensor to my V6. As Rob has said they are available, I got mine on eBay.

Remember to get a new gasket for it as well as they don't come with the sensors and you have to buy them separately.

Good man James.
Yes mines is the old square sensor. I had to fork out £40 for a second hand one on eBay, which the seller guarantees is working. Hopefully that works out OK for me. And good luck with the new job, it can be a bit stressful starting afresh but it will all be worth it. More money to spend on your cavaliers! :D

Thanks Rob too,
I'll examine the old sensor closely on removal. Hope I don't need another anytime soon though!
