Photobucket is back!

Post by Mk3alan »

I've read a post on another forum that the deleted photobucket links have been reinstated!
Have never used it myself but, interesting.

That will please James...
I have looked at a few pages of his WIP threads and the pictures do appear to be there.

This must be great news for everyone who was affected by this photobucket nonsense, however I'm going to delete account on there, even if they have "fixed" what they screwed up in the first place, I've always found that site way too advert heavy, resulting in lagging system performance, I'm definitely not a fan of that. As there are plenty of other ways to upload images onto here, there is no need for me to have an account really.

As the saying goes "fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you ……"

Around a month before the photos came back online I had an email offering me a limited time offer of 20-ish a month.
A week before they suddenly reappeared I got another email, this time thanking me for taking part in their survey and assuring me they were listening to customer feedback. Bet they got a load of abuse!
Upshot was suddenly things changed, I guess they do listen!

400 dollars a year down to 20 :scratch

What a bargain eh?
It seems to me they're fishing for a value and have gone from dynamite to a worm. It should have been the worm first in my opinion.
It's great to see the pics but I don't think I can trust pb .
I get the feeling they'll do the same thing again to raise prices when they've suckered more people.

Why not using normal webspace? Trustworthy provider 4 € the month for 50 GB. No ads, no idiots, no problems.
I use my webspace for backups of my PC as well.

Edit: for 20 € month you'll get unlimited webspace and a lot of different other stuff for really webhosting. ;)

It is hard enough for many people to get a photo hosting site to work.

For many it would be too much like rocket science to have a web page of their own just to host photos.
I am an Admin on a few websites and forums, and a lot of the set-up is not that simple. Enough to scare some people away.

If someone is able to use an FTP program then he can also do this with webhosting. You also need no website as frontend, just the webspace for saving the files. Not more differences between this and photobucket or any other provider for filehosting.
