My winter project!

Post by Mk3alan »

No not Cavalier related!
Said to myself that when I retired and had a bit of time available through the winter months I would construct a model gas engine. This is the type of open crank gas engine used in smaller companies to power flat belt machinery and generators. Bought the castings/materials last year and have been steadily machining the parts. Only parts I didn't make are the skew gears for camshaft, piston rings and lubricators. 1 1/2 bore and 2 inch stroke.
Still not quite finished but up and running, I'm planning on it driving a small generator, quite pleased with how it's come out.

Excellent "boy's toy".
It reminds me of the stuff my dad used to 'play' with back in the 70's.

I am sure he had a little engine powered with parafin or meths.

There is something about watching these little machines running.

Thanks for sharing your video.
