HELP REQUESTED

Post by jan1910 »

We have a 1995 Cavalier Cesaro which has been stripped down for a full restoration, however the wiring looms are present but we have no wiring diagrams, other than a few pictures, does anyone know where I would get an idiots guide to assist with putting them all back especially behind the dash board.

There is no specific easy guide to where everything is.

As for wiring diagrams - the Haynes manual is quite accurate.

its all pretty straight forward as every plug has its own unique location. the plugs only reach certain areas of the dash.

Just remember -
Most of the loom starts on the left footwell / kick panel wall.
It will rise up, the inner wing to approx top of glovebox height.
The loom then goes across the dash at glove box height from left to right. At heater panel level
Down the left side of the radio.
Left to right just above the ashtray.
Up the right side of the radio.
And across to the right below the instrument cluster.

------------------------------------

Orientation wise - right side.

To the right of the instruments are the light switches.

And there is a random yellow connector (26 pin) for the 4x4 unit. -even if youdo not have a 4x4 transmission set up.

Lower down-
There is a fusebox on the right lower dash.
Behind this sits the relay frame.
--------------------------
In the centre -

Top is hazard lights (in the central air vents)

Next down is -
A choice of plugs for the analogue clock, dual info display or fuel computer - dependent upon year and trim level,

Next to this is the heater panel along with the big plug for blower speed controls.

To the right of the heater are 3 switches.
Rear window demister and 2 air-con plugs if fitted.

Next down is the radio.

Then the ashtray / cigar lighter

Then heated seats and traction control switches if fitted.
-----------------------------
On the left..
Glove box light.

And far left is the big yellow alarm connector.

Hey Robsey! Sorry for interruing this thread but as I am in the same exact phase with jan1910, rewiring a 1989 vectra A gls with some goodies from a 1993 calibra (fuel computer, heated seats, abs etc). Is it possible for you to assist me too?

Hi George,

Be careful of the differences of wiring and connections between model years.

There are also changes between fuse and relay locations from one year to the next.

All the wire colours are the same across the different model years. So that makes it a bit easier to match wires from one loom to the next.

Here is my thread on the fuel computer wiring.

And a thread on fuse and relay locations through the years.
