Blink And You Miss It - 15 Years.

Post by Robsey »

Just a general post to say that nobody noticed that the forum turned 15 years old last Thursday... 22nd September 2022.

The forum officially opened on 22nd September 2007 at 1:05 pm with Gaz at the helm.

A much younger and enthusiastic forum back then.

Obviously there were a lot more Cavaliers knocking about too. So a lot more forum traffic.
And not a sniff for several years of Facebook and the rest of the social media type hosts.

So... a bit late, but.

Happy 15th birthday, forum!

I've just realised the reason for my apathy and lack of posts over the past couple of years wasn't covid, it was forum puberty
" It's not rust. It's age-related patina " ;)

The missus had owned the Cavalier for 10 years, and then myself for another 3 years before I discovered the forum in 2008... so I was quite a 'late' starter.

I think Gary, Envoy CDX is the longest registered member, joining with the first wave of sign-ups.

Overall, our Cavalier was already 13 years old when the forum was born.

Happy belated birthday forum :cheers

I was 15 when the forum was born!
17 when I joined, just a few months before I passed my driving test!

Felt like my 1.6 Cav was on its last legs and slowly rotting away with a very uncertain future.
In a much, much better position now in no small part due to the help of this forum.

I don't think I am old until I realise that I cannot get up from the floor without saying a prayer first.
Approaching my mid-fifties - all I can say is "life begins at 40" is a myth.
Either that, or my starter motor is defective.
Bugger!! - too late for a warranty claim. :wall

Agreed it's the involuntary noise when getting up that gets me.

It was a good fleet, glad you liked it a good 80s/90s line up I reckon.....I thought I had the later senator by then, that was a decent car the senator "A". Bit of regret selling it as the later senator B was much worse body wise, not sure that was one of my wisest decisions but in a funny way I prefer the B version. Last I heard the guy that bought it has it in storage, by the looks of it it's on SORN and has been for quite a few years.

Yeah I'm sure it was this dude called Robsey :wave had a blue cavy same as mine too!

Yep, this dude still has his polar sea blue Cavalier 1.8LSi, albeit a bit different now.

I hope I can get it out onto the roads again for it's 30th Birthday in August.

I will always like the big battle barges... Senator A and B, Monza and the like. I always go to the Autobahn Stormers stand at VBOA, to get my fix of battle barge nostalgia.

You have been quite active behind the scenes Gary.

Hopefully as we start heading into spring, things will pick up again.

I am looking forward to the next few months, and the future of the forum as a whole.

I just need to lead by example and de-mothball my own Cavalier, and maybe finish off the last few projects that I promised to finish a few years ago.

To be honest, my house, garden, van, the Vectra and Cavalier all need a lot of TLC, so plenty of stuff to snaffle up what wages I earn.
Just like me, everything is looking a bit ramshackle... well a lot really.
A lottery win sure would help - lol

My hope for my own forum involvement is to reintroduce a lot more Cavalier based postings, guides and interesting content.

So feel free to post up any info requests (within reason), and we shall see what we can put together for you.
