My boss took a look into corgi commisioning models of our trucks, either making new casts (mega expensive) or releasing a model in our colours ie: the corgi transit tow truck available in AA, RAC and one or two private firms.
To commision the model was £10,000 (i sh*t you not!) obviously from that you get commission.
Ive just done a model of my cavalier, the one made by gama, chemically stripped and repainted, but the only problem is, its the saloon and not tha hatch so finding the correct model can be hard for some, easy for others.
As far as permission goes, you dont need any, if there is a model out there which you have modified, or you make one your self, its classed as a "CODE 3", and very unlikely a toy/model manufactorer will ever pursue legal action, if they do, im destroying my lot!
Diecast models and toys can be broken down into 3 variations,
CODE 1 - released by maker as is and in origional condition. Also covers colour variations
CODE 2 - released in a different country specifically for that country(if i remember correctly).
CODE 3 - any variation done by the owner which includes respray, custiom decals, additional items, even chopped up and stuck back together, but not endorsed what so ever by the origional maker.
Sorry to waffle on.
