What to do with my traction control button?

Post by Mort »

So I bought a set of switches to go with my heated seats, and they came with a traction control button. As I have a 2l LS, I don't think that I'm going to be fitting more advanced traction control than I already have (if the wheels start spinning, I take my foot off the noise pedal...). So the question is, what should I do with the button (or the space that it would leave if I took it out)? Anyone got any suggestions (with pics?)?

On the Turbos there is just a gap there with a rubber mat on it.

Leather scented button!!? Or better yet, push the button and it releases the smell of a brand new car!! That would be cool! I have the traction control button on my Cav but not sure it works!

well give it a test, if it wheelspins under the boot, then its faulty, if it doesnt spin, it works :D My auto is useless in the wet at pulling away under power, so i just use Winter mode and thats basically as good as T/C :D

Ah ha, just noticed a mistake I made in the above. It's not a traction button I have but a Winter Button. I thought they were one and the same thing! duh :scratch :?

Essentially you're right, its the same thing, except T/C uses electronic sensors to prevent wheelspin, while Winter mode on automatic gearboxes lets you pull away in 3rd gear to prevent wheelspin. To be honest, the result is the same but T/C is for more powerful cars really. :wave

Self Destruct button? big sign which says do not press, so if "scrotes" do get in, they are going to press it and BYE BYE!

How about spike droppers or an oil slick from the rear?

OR! wire it up to a speaker which plays the sound of a dog barking, or gunfire etc, great for going past bus stops.

Sorry, it is ten to 6 in the morning, can any tell i i havent slept?

yes... but I like the self destruct button...

How about wiring as per the immobiliser idea in the how 2?

Ye but if that button was to turn the immobiliser on and off, it means anyone can do it lol so it would be useless

i reckon obvious solutions could be - wired to an amp to turn it on and off
wired to a set of extra lamps - spots, fogs, neons, strobes
part of an immobileser system - 1 of a number of switches required to complete
circuit
air horns - (?)

Idea's are endless!

Amp idea sounds good, would be very useful indeed. If it was me, i'd wire in 1000 LED lights. I'd need a good fuse too.

Not to switch it on and off... that would be silly. The simple immobiliser idea work that if one or more circuits of your choise aren't activated while firing (i.e. the brake lights and the none functioning TC button) a fuse blows and immobilises the fuel pump or the ECU or any thing else (my fave theoretically combo would be immobilise the fuel pump and cut the feed to the fuel gauge  )... that's what I would do...
