Playing in the snow pictures and also broke it! Ooopss...
Well we have LOADS of snow here, Its about 8inchs thick!
The 4x4 on the cav has been working overtime but hasn't let me down yet, it hasn't got stuck yet lol.
Went out for a play before in a big empty car park and took some pics.
Was good fun, Love driving in the snow
And then well errr disaster struck lol. Was on my way home after playing, came out of the car park and turned the corner but wasn't turning was REALLY slippy, braked abit but we were allready heading to the kerb, then BANG, bugger hit it.......
Wheels scraped and the wheels pushed back against the mudgaurd. New wishbone time! Still drives so not that major really. My own fault for messing about lol.

my mate did prety much the same in his wrx, came out if a corner put his foot down a little and drifted sideways in to a curb, got away with just a minor scratch on the wheel
20 mins later in a different car park i managed to rip the front splitter off on a snow drift

Bad luck about the wheel/wishbone. But like you say, it happened while you were having a bit of fun, and everyone walked away so no harm done. I always like having a lark in the snow. Shame I've not got a car of my own on the road at the mo.

Yeah easy fix really, the wishbones had been on my list of things i wanted to change anyway just didn't plan it this way lol.

Did the same a few years ago in a Capri, coming around the corner at the end of my street, it has a slight negative camber so I used to just provoke a bit of over steer. Over cooked it and smashed my rear near side alloy and ripped both rear spring hangers off. Not good on New Years Eve.

Same happened today here, i understeered into a high kerb, except i only have the standard steelies, but it was enough to bend a small outer part of the wheel a good inch out of shape. I changed it over just in case because the tyre was pressed in a bit and i didnt want to risk it coming off. Could have been worse, so lesson learnt. I need better tires, mine are rubbish anyway.

Re: Playing in the snow pictures and also broke it! Ooopss...
Many years ago, I went to work in the snow in my old Mini. I drove speedily into the empty pub carpark and did a cracking 180 degree handbrake turn into a parking spot. It would have been perfect except I misjudged where the kerb was (it was covered in snow), and slammed the rear wheel into it. Lucklly the arse end of the car rode over the kerb, so I only damaged the steel rim. I left the car with the arse end on the verge (as if I'd planned to do it like that all along!), then I noticed the gaffer of the pub watching me. He'd seen the whole thing and ribbed me mercilessly about it for weeks!!

Squig - No just the wheel scrape. Lucky really.
Fitted a new wishbone today. Heres how bent the other one was:
Was bent quite bad but had it sorted in less than an hour so not too bad.

Dont know, havent looked yet, but i will try to get both looked at when it starts getting warmer. As i only go roundtown and not on a racetrack, i figure its ok to leave it for a while.Squig wrote:feeling that mate... has it done more than scrape the wheel? wishbone I know

Thats not that much damage could have been a lot more, you were lucky. I had a very lucky escape years ago my fokes has a Toyota tercel 4x4 estate car. I was having some fun in the snow with it and lost control. The back end came spinning round and I was sliding towards a wall. I thought I was going to hit the wall but at the last second the car changed direction. It ended up sliding backwords in to someones drive way. Dont think Russ Swift could have done it better. I was very lucky.
