How Rare are Mk3's

Post by marksmith »

Can someone tell me, how rare are Mk3's getting now.

Now that I have a Mk3, I find myself looking for other Mk3's on the road. However, in the last 2 weeks I have not seen ANY other Mk3's in my area.

I know its only been 15 years or so since they were last made, but I am surprised I am not seeing alot more than I am !

Is it just that Wycombe is basically a Cavalier Mk3 free zone and there are still loads left in the Uk, or are they really getting quite rare ?

They are without doubt, future classics, judging by how much of a classic the Mk1 Cavalier is, but surely there must still be loads left in the Uk and I am just unlucky not to see any in High Wycombe ???

There's a few new ones popping up around this area, and still the same few locals about on their travels. Even a BTCC replica. Most common ones around here I'd say are facelift hatchbacks. LS/GLS are usually the most common trim models I've seen.

I see 8 or 9 on a regular basis and none of them are real sheds either. There is also a mint late spec SRi with Albany trim local to me that I drool over whenever I see it- it is ABSOLUTELY mint! As said before most are LS GLS hatches with the odd special edition as well. Would say that pre-facelift are a lot less common tho.

there is one round here that is the same colour and year as mine. Also seen a maroon one driven by an old boy, and a lovely royal blue one that I see when I drop my nipper off at school. All of them look to be in good nick and wearing well for their age.

+1....lol

Seen a fair few round the Poole / Bournemouth area since I bought mine but dont think I have ever seen Andrei's yet even though he lives just round the corner from me...lol

Used to be a lot of Sri's around but seem a bit thin on the ground now...
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

they are out there... they made one and a half million of them (think about that for a minute) and that's just the vauxhall badged cavaliers. stands to reason there are plenty left (and plenty of parts too). if you're looking for a base model for a project to 'upgrade' then you really can take your pick of the bunch. it's finding original hi spec versions that have remained 'factory' that's the challenge.
