MOT booked for tomorrow.

Post by Cavalier342 »

Wish me luck guys. I'll have to give her a bit of a run in the morning, she's been stood in one spot for the last couple of days. I'm cautious about the rear ARB bushes, don't know if she'll pass on that. :? Well, I'll soon see.

Am I a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? Well that depends on how much I've had to drink...

Not much left of them is all I can say. If I rock the car from side to side while sitting in it, I can just about hear the knocking.

One word - begins with an F
Nothing too major, bit of welding is the main bit. front suspension area ( the usual) and rear seat belt anchorage, wherever that is.
Other bits are headlamp aim (sod-all) and steering rack gaiter insecure. I had a look earlier, the cable tie had come off  Not sure whether to fix it myself or let them do it on the retest, won't cost me anything either way.
And the rear brakes are binding, the guy reckoned new brake cylinders are recommended, £18 a piece plus a bit of labour.
On the plus side, the emissions, she passed with flying colours on both hc level and co2 levels, so that's great. Also, nothing was mentioned regarding the rear bushes, which was a surprise.
All in all, hopefully the sum total for repairs is around £170, with a free retest. Not bad, I've had much worse.
Bringing it back in on monday for the repairs. Decent honest enough garage.

Well she's back in all legal glory :D a weekend and £160 later, i have a green sheet :D So glad to have her back. After driving a raggedy 106 courtesy car for a day, it's so nice to get back in my comfortable driving position with correctly spaced pedals :thumb It's impossible to drive those 106's with big shoes/feet. And now I can enjoy the road again after a mixture of cycling/walking/asking for lifts. A full service is on the list now sometime soon.

What garage did you use Andrei???

My last M.o.t. was done in Boscombe and the garage that did my Corsa said all was well then it snapped a front strut at over 70mph on the upton bypass = Brown pants!!
Free Parking is a bonus, leaving my Cav in a carbon dust filled carpark is not.....

Pottery Service Station, Mike. Ringwood road, they sell caravans. can't miss it. Opposite the industrial estate. Good honest place, my parents take their motors there so I thought I'd do the same. Good honest bloke on the reception, he told me exactly what's what, friendly. Recommended. As I mentioned, I got a courtesy car too.
