0-60, just curious.

Post by Cavalier342 »

Roughly speaking, what are your 0-60 times? Obviously not trying to start a "boy racer" thread but just curious. Got a 10.18 today on my stopwatch on an empty stretch of road in the countryside. Did two runs, that was the mean. That's in my standard 18SV with 1/4 tank.

There's an Android app for measuring this, probably more accurate.

the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

The spec for the 1.8 is 11 secs. So your car is probles right due to the fact that the speedo never reads true.

The v6 is 7.3 and according to a tuning website I was on. they recomended fiting a lightened fly wheel and f28 as this was ment to reduce the time by 0.5 secs.

But the only way to get a true 0-60 is with specialist equipment.

I do understand the speedo reading issue, but without specialist equipment I took down the times as it was. So basically it's as it should be, so that's good then. Was seeing how well the carburettor responded to different temperatures as well. Good to know. :thumb

Cool. I still don't get what an android is though. I do know that GPS is ultra-accurate however.

my old 1.8 speedo was well out.to get a true speed you need to use a sat nav.for example coaches are restricted to 63 mph but when i matched a national express coach speedo sd 70 sat nav was 63 as should be.definetly need timing gear for a true 0 to 60 reading!

sounds right I got 6.9 with the above mods, but that was emma hitting the onboard timer as I called it.

My ecotec was a fast car when I was 21. (10 years ago), that dose make me feel old now. It just could never handle the speed in the corners. Once I u rated everything it handled really well, and the power then started to feel too little lol, thats why I stuck a 200BHP v6 in it. Now its faster.

I loved the car when it was an ectotec, the engine just wasn't strong enough to handle too much abuse.

I remember 18 years ago in my dads 1.8 LS I thought that was a rocket ship. as it had injection! But the again....... it was compared to the Montego 1.6 He had just sold.

I once read in a magazine a CDX16v cav got a 0-60 in undre seven secs. It was at a santa pod day, that MAxpower. or Fast car covered. It was a genuine time as it was fitted with all the high tech stuff.

The car was standard and the driver said. "It was a flook"

There was a few escort cossies doing it in under 6.

But that was back in the days were the modified car mags were full of cossies.

So I guess its possible to get a better fiqure that tat stated by vauxhall, if the conditions are right.

And lets face it. A second is not a very long time.

You could loose or gain that in good/bad gear changes.

mines not quite standard, also has the ridiculous gear ratios in it and were looking at about 60 in 2nd quite easily, in about 7 secs. 110 in third is the on the rev limit and it's at 140 in 4th. wont pull any more in 5th.
on a rolling road its been up to the limiter in 5th though, graph showed 170 mph odd iirc.

On my last Santa Pod visit, the cav did the 1/8 mile in 9.3 secs at 76mph and the 1/4 in 14.4 at 97.
That equates to 0-60 in around 6 secs.
