Check control loom on a cav
Hi I've been reading somewhere on mig that cav's have check control looms I just wanted to ask a few questions.
How do I know if my Cav has a check control loom and where is the check control module ?
Also is it similar to the mk2 astra get check control loom as the digi dash never had all the earring lights on the binical as we all know there was a warning light display in middle of the dash my Cav is 1995 sri has all brake light bulb warning light system etc just don't wanna start cutting my loom up if there's only a few wires I need to solder cheers

Re: Check control loom on a cav
If it has the loom, it will be tied up behind the glove box.
My understanding is that the later Astra-mk2 GTE module is almost identical to the Cavalier, Vectra-B and Omega units.
The early GTE module is significantly different. The bulb check circuitry is in the display.
The correct / later module will have two connectors on it.
One for the body loom side (to floor connector X1) and one for the additional dash loom.
To the display module on the Astra mk2, Vectra-B and Omega-B...
To the dash clocks on the Cavalier.
Wiring positions are exactly the same but the there are colour differences for the wires to the dip / tail and stop lamp bulb warning tell-tale bulbs.

Ok sound the way they worded it all it was like its plug in and play ? So if I want to get the gte warning light display to work I just use relevant wires to back of cav binical ? I've got the warning display and check control loom from astra gte as I bough the whole dash loom and separated it all.Robsey wrote:If it has the loom, it will be tied up behind the glove box.

Yup - you have the later set up.
So rather than wiring to your GTE disply - the wires go to the Cav dash bulbs.

Re: Check control loom on a cav
A massive wiring job to do properly with not allot of gain. Easier to just fit a higher spec cav loom.

Bit of thread revival but I have a 92 GSi 4x4 would anyone know if the check control be on car already or even the loom itself.
Its been good 8 years since I had a cav on go and gadgets in car wasn't really a priority back then

Being a GSi it should have it fitted as standard.OPCed wrote:Bit of thread revival but I have a 92 GSi 4x4 would anyone know if the check control be on car already or even the loom itself.

You'll know as soon as you turn on the ignition; the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree in comparison to one that doesn't have it.
