Body wiring looms

Post by OPCed »

Hi all I have been looking at my wiring loom on my project and well its a bit of a mess with bits cut out, other sections missing from under bonnet with broken connectors.

So my question is when its time to look for new one are the wiring looms generic like my Astra OPC or do I have to get a specific Gsi 4x4 loom???

The engine harness does not concern me as I will be running aftermarket ecu and loom eventually, as I want best results for crap fuel we have here in Ireland.

Cheers

There are a couple of different looms dependent upon model year and model specification.

There are minor changes at model years 1989, 1991 and then facelift 1992 onwards.

Trim levels have different options so LS / L or lower will usually not have wiring for front fogs, head lamp wipers etc...

If you want all the options you are probably looking at Diplomat or CDX specification looms.

What part number is it -

Maybe EPC will recognise it.
Either that or do a google search.

I usually put "vauxhall" or "opel" followed by the part number.

Part numbers are

Opel Mfr .: 1296290
GM Mfr .: 90463163

Emailed them and just got a blunt as described answer, cheeky buggers had no description till I asked for one lol

They its c25xe loom which is no help other than I don't remember them coming in cdx/diplomat, so maybe no good.

I presume that if it is a V6 loom, then it is probably a GSi.

I shall have a look at EPC as soon as I get chance.

Here is the information provided by EPC.

Instrument panel wiring harness -
Numbered 90 463 163.

As reported by the seller, it is indeed for a Cavalier fitted with the C25XE engine.
Ident is GT.

For vehicles fitted with air bag.
But NOT fitted with air conditioning.
Also not for vehicles sold in Japan.
For right hand drive.

Chassis numbers: -
P1210036 to P1999999
P5247841 to P5999999
P7611691 to P7999999

As all chassis numbers start P, then this is intended for a 1993 Vehicle (facelift).

So would match in with any 1992 to 1995 Instrument panel.

So it is not for a GSi as these were pre-facelift.

But I would assume electronic speedo.

According to TIS - The C25XE was only produced with an automatic transmission.
