Re: dash illumination?
not sure of the bulbs themselves but should be obvious when you remove the dud ones. i think in order to remove heater controls it is a bit fiddly. if memory serves you unscrew and remove the steering cowel covers, then the panel under the main speedo display then the surround around the clock/trip computer then you should be able to slide heater control panel out...
Re: dash illumination?
The heater panel is very poorly lit by a single 1.2 watt 12 volt capless bulb that pushes into along square receiver socket with two purple wires on the back of it.
It may be worth upgrading to either a 2 watt or 3 watt alternative bulbs, as this one bulb has to light up the entire heater panel and switches by itself.

Re: dash illumination?
Interesting that you suggest replacing for a more powerful bulb because I have this exact problem.
The illumination behind the heater controls has blown, driving at night is pretty much guesswork/gropework if I want to adjust the heating
In addition, the illumination behind the speedo/rev counter etc is almost equally non existent. It is so low that you cant make out the mileage when driving at night. If Im on a motorway with orange lamps above, you cant even tell that there are any lights on at all!
Is replacing these lights going to be a ball ache?

Re: Re: dash illumination?
Higher wattage bulb gives off more heat, which then melts the fibre optic plastic track. This leads to poor light transmission across the controls leaving just the bright bit in the middle.Robsey wrote:The heater panel is very poorly lit by a single 1.2 watt 12 volt capless bulb that pushes into along square receiver socket with two purple wires on the back of it.

"No the temperature gauge doesn't work........
we've driven 150 miles today........
the heater went cold last Thursday........
they check the level when it's serviced don't they?"

Yes it is, this module replace standard t5 bulb

Re: dash illumination?
Any idea where I can get one? I've spoken to various led suppliers and searched the net extensively. Best I can find is a website in Croatia that appears to sell them but I don't speak the language so can't work out how to buy!!
